January 2011 Moms

two people have told me I'm tiny for 6 months

And then the one lady with the constant inappropriate comments told them that I was carrying it all in my hips. (This is actually a true statement, but you shouldn't tell a person this).

I shot her dagger eyes and they were all giving her Indifferent looks. So some people do know what boundaries are...

I'm not bothered by the tiny comments because I was getting "OMG you're so big!" comments at 4 months. I think now I actually look 6 months and they think it's tiny because I haven't changed much in the past couple of months.

  • Yeah I've been getting that too....and I actually have a big bump.  I get more "wow, your all belly" though.

  • Seriously, people and their comments!  In the SAME WEEK I have heard the following comments "Wow, you are pregnant? I had no idea!", "You look great!  I can hardly tell!", "Oh my gosh!  You are huge!  That is going to be a big baby"  Some tell me I am carrying high, some low.  Some say it's all in my hips, some say I'm all belly.  Whatever!  As long as she is healthy and happy, I don't care what others think!  The comments are only going to get weirder as we get bigger! :)
  • I get told this a lot too, and that it's all in my belly and that the rest of my body doesn't look pregnant. Whatever, I am 5'1 and have had a hard time with nausea so of course I'm not as big as some other people. I guess it's a blessing in disguise because it doesn't seem like I'm going to have as much trouble losing weight afterwards as I thought I would.
  • Totally agree...sometimes my stomach is wide...other time it sticks straight out. It totally depends on the time of day and the position she's in. I've gotten:

"wow, she's really growing in there, huh?"

    "you're spreading early."

    *eye stare at boob level*

*eye stare at stomach level/contemplating is she or isn't she"

    "that's definitely a girl, you're so wide."

    and...the winner...from my mom:

"holy sh*t! you're gonna be huge."

  • I've probably gained about 15 pounds so far. Morning sickness did not keep me from eating and I can definitely tell my butt has gotten bigger. Losing weight after won't be easy, but it'll happen. And then I'm going to walk around in my skinny clothes again and give all these rude people the "is she or isn't she" look.

  • Just ignore people like that, every pregnancy is different.  Personally, I feel like a beached whale already and I've been told that I'm small for 6 months as well.  Don't sweat it sweetie.

  • Ah, stranger comments. My close coworker (on the same grade level) who was pregnant last year is my height but weighs less and only gained 20 lbs while PG so I'm sure I'm a house in comparison. Just waiting for the comments...
  • Yeah I hate stranger comments. I have had two strangers tell me it must be a boy because my face looks swollen. Yeah gee, thanks, um no that is actually my face.

  • my coworkers and family tell me that i'm really showing... however at the dr. office ysterday a lady asked if i was preg, i said yes im 5 months.  she had a shocked exprssoin and said OMG it must be a small baby!... i wanted to say excuse me? my baby is a perfectly healthy weight thanks!  it just really upset me but i just kind of ignored her and my DH kind of laughed and said oh she has a belly! some people...

  • Eh, I don't think people know at all what pregnant women are "supposed" to look like at different stages.  I get told I'm really tiny all the time too but I'm also starting to get people in the neighborhood saying "congratulations" and "you look great" as we are walking our dogs around.  So I obviously look pregnant if people that don't know us are comfortable saying congrats and not worrying that I'm just getting fat.  Telling you you are carrying it all in your hips is pretty rude.
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

  • I get the, "You don't look pregnant, just looks like you've put on some weight"  "Geez, is the baby living in your boob?"  I am one of the lucky ones that get fat all over!  I didn't look pregnant with DD until about 8 months.  Luckily, I didn't look like I just had a baby when I left the hospital.  I lost 20 lbs. upon leaving.  So I guess my odd pregnancy body has perks!
  • Some people say my belly is huge, when it isn't, but most comments have been "you look so cute and you can't tell you're pregnant from the back". I've been getting all sorts of comments, but it's the annoying and ignorant ones that make me want to throat punch people. I don't care if someone says I'm tiny for 6-ish months.

My SIL was huge towards the end of her pregnancy, whereas my cousin who had her baby last month, was all belly.
