I am using a midwife for my prenatal care, but still need two OB visits per SC state law. The OB I saw for my first visit has since "discharged" me from the practice due to my decision to use a midwife. So now I have 30 days to find a new OB that I won't even see until February-ish.
Does anyone have an OB they can recommend? The one OB I know of isn't covered by my insurance.
TIA!
Re: Midwife-friendly OB
Is it Stafford who isn't covered?
I believe it can also be a family doctor who does not practice obstetrics? Or a CNM. Dr. Gamble (North Hills Medical) is a family doctor who is easy to work with. Jackie Robins is an independent CNM (Upstate Nurse Midwifery). I don't think she takes insurance--though her fees are reasonable. And she'll come to your home, I think!
And some women use Maternal Fetal Medicine MDs because for whatever reason, many of them are homebirth-friendly.
I'm sure your midwife, though, will have ideas.
I had to talk my regular OB/GYN into doing my visits--she did not normally do so. I used Stafford for my 2nd birth.
Good luck!
Who was your ob? Are you planning a homebirth?
Honestly, If I was in this situation and if you just needed one more OB visit, I would just pay out of pocket. Of course you might end up high risk or something and have to transfer back in to OB care so that's always a danger of that.
What doctors offices are covered by your insurance?
