Fun rainy day at home activity for almost 4 yr old?

What do you do with your DC on rainy days? While I'd love to take him somewhere like Monkey Joes, I can't today because DH is working on laying a tile floor in the bathroom in the basement and occasionally needs my help. So, what's a good activity to do? DS has been bored with our normal activities. TIA!

  • coloring, making play dough, baking cookies. cuddle on the couch with a movie or some books.

  • Our go to rainy day activity is always a "camp out".  I use large blankets and lay them across the tops of furniture to make a huge fort.  I have them bring books in with flashlights, a snack etc.  Basically, they think anything is more fun to do in the fort.

If you have boxes, my kids love playing with empty boxes.  They color them and put stickers on them.  I use smaller ones from food and make a "town" for matchbox.  they can be a garage, car wash, etc.

Play in the sink.  My kids bring all kinds of plastic toys in the sink...dinosaurs, dolls, cups and spoons.

  • when we are stuck at home & bored out of our minds, I move the furniture in the family room & blow up the aero bed for the kids to crawl on & bounce on (mine kids are small & not too rough). They use it to make forts, cuddle & watch a movie.

Crafts, baking, homemade playdough are other ideas.
