Babies: 3 - 6 Months

3 month "schedules"

Just curious what your 3 month olds day is like at home...like when they get up, how many naps/how long, when they go to bed...those kinds of things.

DS is kind of inconsistent with when he wakes up.  For awhile it was sleeping from 9pm-6-6:30am - but now this week as he is fighting his swaddle its become earlier.  During the day, he will be up for 1.5 hours (almost to the minute) and get tired.  He then naps, usually in his swing, and his first nap is either a short one (45 min) or his long one (about 3 hours)...he follows the same pattern all day, up for 1.5 hours and down for a nap.  He has that one long nap each day and the others are either 45min - an hour.  He gets crabby and ready to go to bed somewhere around 8 - but we usually don't put him back in his crib until after we give him one last feeding around 9-9:30 (to help him sleep through the night).

Re: 3 month "schedules"

  • DD wakes up at 7 a.m.  If she's not awake, I wake her up and feed her.

Nap from 8 to 11, then feed at 11.

Nap from 1 to 2, then feed at 2.

Nap from 3:30 to 4:30.  Feed at 5.

Bath at 6, then feed again.

    Bed at 7.

    Lather, rince, repeat.

  • we WERE on somewhat of a schedule but the past few days have been completely crazy.  she used to be awake for about two hours, then either nap or eat then nap.  and take a long nap around lunchtime.  now she's off in her own little world and does whatever suits her.  no long nap, which means no nap for mommy.  and the past 3 nights in addition to her usual waking 4 times, she's had major blowouts somewhere between 3-5am which result in her being awake for an hour and half trying to smile at me and refusing to go back to sleep.  i'm tired.  i wish she'd go back to a schedule.  i think she might be starting teething cause she's also been a bit cranky.  blach!

in my opinion, 3 months is pretty young to expect a baby to be on a schedule.  I kind of just went with the flow (so did DCP) and LO is now just starting to make her own schedule, it's loose but there

I hope your DD gets back on track soon!  Probably just a growth spurt or maybe even teething?

  • We have more of a routine than schedule.  She's not very consistent about when she wakes up in the morning, but if she wakes before 6, I try to feed her and put her back to bed.  After 6 am, I consider her up for the day.  Most days she gets up around 6:30.

After that, she's pretty much on an up two hours, asleep 45 min to 1 hour routine until bedtime which is around 9 pm.  Every now and then she'll take a good afternoon nap but those days are few and far between.
