Speaking of weight.... has anyone hit the 200 lb mark?

I laughed today because when I went to the doctor, I was 200 lbs. I am 6'1 and started at 163, so 200 lbs isn't unreasonable. But man, it's depressing! My husband is 6'5 and 210 lbs, so I can't believe I'm getting so close to him! I know it's not a big deal and numbers don't mean much, it's just overall weight gain and even that doesn't mean much, but I sure don't enjoy seeing the good old 200. Anyone else?

  • yep! I am 5'9 and I am at 217lbs. I started at about 195. Its funny when they weigh me they put it on the 150 bar than ram the little weight all the way to the end..I just tell them, "don't try to flatter me, I'm way over 200!" Stick out tongue

  • Not yet but getting close.  I started at 162, am 5'8, and last appt. last week was at 189.  Pretty sure I'll hit 200.
  • Hope I don't hit the 200lb mark, I'm only 5'4

  • I was 200 lbs. when I got pregnant, so yep! Now I'm at 215! It's just a number. If ya feel good and don't look so bad, I don't really pay attention to weight. It's all about how you carry yourself. I'm still very healthy and active, so I think all of that put together is what matters!

     I must say though, you're tall...200 isn't much!!

  • I started at 215.  I am almost 240.  I am hoping not to get over 250.  I'll have almost 100 pounds to lose again after these babies are born.  I did it before with DS.  I am praying I can do it again.
  • i am about 15 pounds away from that but it is definatly a scarey number i just rember to tell my self that oprahs skinny weight is 180 and I think as long as you dont look 200 pounds who cares i definatly dont look like I weight as much as I do its all in the belly anyway and I am healthy and being induced tomarrow so I try not to think about it!!

Ha. My doctor's office has a digital scale, so there's no avoiding it. It's just bam, right there in your face. The worst is, that it's in the bathroom and they ask me to weigh myself when I pee in the cup and then tell them what it is!! I have to actually say it!! It's tempting to lie, but what would be the point? LOL

  • Yes, I try not to think about it. I'm 5'8'' and was 185 lbs to start, so I knew it would happen.  NBD, I'll lose it when she's born.

    you ladies are TALL!  :)  I'm 5'2.  If I hit 200 I would be a sphere.

  • Uhg, I hit it a while ago, and totally cried that day.

I am 5'8" and started at 177 (about 20 pounds overweight for me).  I am now sitting at 217, only about 3 pounds from outweighing DH.

    Me and just yesterday, actually.

I started at 173 (about 8 lbs more than my normal weight, I was on vacation) and I've gained 27 lbs!  My OB says I'm doing great though since lots of women gain 50+.

I don't really care about the scale number - I don't even weigh myself during the week.  I've lost weight before, I know I can do it again.  I'm just trying to be healthy.

Your OB is totally right. I gained 60 lbs with my first son! I lost it all, no problem without doing much (granted I know it's not like that for everyone), so don't worry! 27 lbs isn't bad at all! I am happy with 37 at full term, since last time, it was 60. lol

  • I'm a member. Unfortunately. I'm 5'8 and started out at 175 which is around 20ish lbs overweight for me. I blame post-wedding comfort weight gain for that! I hit 215 today at my OB appointment. Eww. I feel huge but my OB and the nurses assure me I'm doing fine considering I've got 2 big babies in there. Can't wait to get back to my sports and stuff after these babies are born. At least people keep telling me I look good, all belly and not swollen. Hopefully they're not lying.

  • No, I haven't hit 200 (yet) but I won't be surprised if I do.  I'm 5'9" and my normal weight is about 165 which puts me in about a size 6/8ish but unfortunately I was at about a size 10 when I got pregnant so I'm fully expecting to see 200 on the scale at some time....unless I close my eyes for the remainder of my weight checks.  Wink

  • Yup! I'm 5"10" started at 198 lbs and was 223 at my last visit. I feel healthy at about 176 lbs so I started off with extra weight. Can't wait to lose it all and feel good again!

  • I hit it in 2nd tri. I had difficulty getting fully back to my original/ideal weight after two miscarriages, and put on 15lbs in 1st tri alone. I'm totalling about 50lbs gain at this point, although there's a lot of swelling, and am hoping it will be a pretty quick descent back to where I was for starting this pregnancy. Getting back to my best weight is probably going to be a longer haul though. Crying

  • Over 200 lbs.  Started at 174.  I knew it would happen - wanted to not gain more than 25 to stay under but, nope.

At last appointment my husband actually asked my weight when I came back to the examination room and I just said, "I am not going to tell you".

He said what - like 185?  I said you are insane - I started at 174 - that would be a miracle if I was only at 185 right now.  Ha Ha - he has no concept of weight!

  • I normally won't comment on weight posts, mostly because it's someone who is 115lbs complaining, freaking out, or whining about gaining.  I must say that this has been a tad bit comforting to know that I'm not the only one in the club.  Now I'm not feeling so down on myself after reading other comments because once I have DS #2 I am bound and determined to get this weight off and then some.  So thanks ladies for not whining about weight gain when ya'll know as well as I do that it's inevitable while being pregnant, I wish other boards would get that.
  • Yeah- I hit 200...feels weird- I've never been 200 lbs. but I wasn't that small ever... even in my profile photo I was 170 (and a size 8) so I guess its not crazy to think I would have hit 200 lbs...but scary.
  • Yay for tall mommies!  I'm 6'1" as well and started out at 180.  I have a feeling I'm going to weigh in around 205 at my appointment tomorrow.  I definitely had a minor breakdown when I first realized I'd hit 200, even though I knew it was coming.

I totally get that. I hate when I see people upset about gaining 20 lbs! Just wanted to vent/lUgh with others about the good old 200 club. My husband and giggle about it too. It is what it is. I have to be realistic and realize that at 6'1 I'm not going to be 120 lbs. Ever. It's all relative. It's good not to stress about it.
  • Soooo glad not to be there yet. I'm only 5'5" and tipping the scale at 175 has done a number on my mental well being

I am still about 10-15 pounds less than DH right now though

  • Just catching up on here now and I am also now in this club. I am 204 lbs now. I have never weighed this much in my life. I am 5'11'' and started out at 160ish at the beginning of this pregnancy. (I have always been pretty top heavy but other than that, everyone has always called me a "bean pole" or a "tall glass of water") I do still have chicken legs, though I have had a case of the cankles twice so far this summer. (Also, another new wonderful thing for me...ha)

My dr. and the nurses at the office always say they can't believe my weight bc according to them, I don't "look like I weigh that at all" DH says this, too. I haven't told anyone else my weight bc well, nobody has asked and I don't think I would feel super comfortable giving that info out.

So glad I am not alone though. What a relief. Thanks for posting this. :)

  • I just joined the club today as well. 201 at my Doc appt today, about a 40 lbs gain. It's a hard milestone to come to, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one! I'm trying not to stress about it and my Doc is far from concerned, so I'm just going to continue to do what I've been doing and relax Smile

I am right there with you... I was well over 200 when I got pregnant.. closer to the 275 mark... bad I know, but I have only gained about 5lbs this whole pregnancy. I did the same with DD, I never gained much weight. I just know that after DD#2 is born I need to start doing things different with my diet and exercizing.

  • I started at 220- I must be one of the biggest ladies on here!  Last time they weighed me I was at 238, but we will see Thursday what the new number is.  I hoped not to go over 250, but that's not looking so good right now.

  • Hit it a couple of appts ago. Sad times. Started at 180 (5'9") which is around 15lb heavier than I like, but I hated this winter and was a little lazier than normal. Last appt was 217. I have a lot of swelling in my legs/feet/ankles though. My ob has told me every appt from 28wks on that I'm gaining too fast, but then he told me that because I have some swelling and I work retail I shouldn't walk at night, so he took away my only exercise! I was a runner pre pregnancy - well, pre winter, I'm a fair weather runner - so I'll be taking it back up again ASAP to get back down to normal weight. I'm so tired of hearing that I've gained too much - do you think I don't know? But I eat pretty healthy and I drink tons of water, so I don't know exactly what they want me to do. Frustrating!
