TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Random. Are you able to dream about

being pregnant or giving birth?

Like, can you 'see' yourself pregnant and with a baby?  Kwim?

It's like sometimes I can't see it, or dream about it, but every now and then I can see it happening.

Just wondering if you can or can't visualize it happening for you.

I know, really random and totally flame-worthy.....just asking?  Wink

  • I do all the time, but it's rarely a happy dream or one that doesn't leave me depressed when I wake up.

  • I've had a lot of BFP dreams, but I don't think I have had any about actually being pregnant.  None that I remember anyway.  Momagain2009 told me the other day she dreamed I was having quads...that's one dream I hope doesn't come true.

  • In HS, I used to dream about being pregnant and laying an egg (ha ha!)

After my first loss, I dreamed that we were able to keep the baby alive by putting the embryo in this machine.  (Although it was a cp and there was no embryo...) That was awful to wake up from.

Recently I dreamed I was pg. again, but it was very early.  My betas looked good.  Then I woke up. :(

I haven't dreamed about being hugely pregnant since before I started trying.  I think my brain is trying to protect me or something, in case it never happens.

  • It's just really strange to me.

Sometimes I dream about holding a baby, or DH and I being parents, but I've never dreamed about being pregnant.

Recently I was day dreaming and could imagine myself giving birth, but still not begin pregnant.

I wonder why?  It kinda bothers me.

  • Over the last year it has been on and off.  I haven't had any recently which scares me a bit.
  • Most of my dreams have revolved around getting a BFP.  Just 2 nights ago I had one & I wouldn't believe that the test was positive because I thought it'd never happen again.  I think I haven't let myself look as far ahead as the baby because I know I'm going to have a hard time getting excited for the first half of the pg.

  • I've had a couple of dreams where I get a BFP and I'm shocked in the dream. I guess I think it will never happen again.

  • Sometimes I can.

What I can't do is visualize myself having one of those storybook pregnancies.  My visualization is riddled with scary near misses and such.  I just can't conceive that this process will ever be "perfect" for me.

ETA: I read it to mean "dream" as in "visualize."  Like, hopes and dreams.  In the literal sense, no, I've never had a dream where I'm pg with a healthy baby.  My pg dreams always end in a m/c.

Now, I have had dreams where I'm nursing a baby, or holding a baby.  In the dream I'm always like, is this baby mine...and then, happily, I always realize that it is.

  • I have a reaccuring dream of being in labor and not making it to the hospital. Sometimes I deliver in the hospital parking lot and other times on the side of the road because we get stuck in a snowstorm. I haven't had it in awhile and it worries me because we rushed to the hospital when my water broke with the twins and I am thinking maybe that was what the dream was referrencing.

  • I had a dream the other night that I was delivering a baby.  I woke up feeling happy so I guess it went well.  I have also had dreams about a little girl around 2-3 years old and I believe that she is my daughter.  I haven't had any bad dreams about giving birth or a baby so I guess that's a good thing since in my conscious every day life I am much less optimistic.
