Thongs While Pregnant.......

I am getting ready for work and in my underwear draw. I just realized that since I have been pregnant I haven't put on a thong. I have no clue why, I just don't.Are you still wearing thongs?

I only wore them when I DH and I would go out with friends. Since BFP we haven't really left the house. No thongs for me.

  • I only wear thongs. I actually do not own a pair of "regular" underwear. But now you have me thinking....when I get all big I wonder if I will still want to wear them?

I almost exclusively wear thongs and haven't stopped wearing them yet.  I think I'll have to be pretty big to stop wearing them.  They are SO comfortable - i'm not looking forward to having to wear regular undies, yuck.

  • I gave up wearing them after I had my first DS, I think I've wore them once, purely for DH's benefit..
  • After having to have surgery on my tailbone, and getting an hour long lecture from my Dr. about how dangerous thongs are, I completely stopped  wearing them.  Can't say I miss them.

Sorry but this made me laugh.  How are thongs dangerous?  Serious question.

  • Yes, I hate panty lines so almost always wear a thong.  I wore them pretty much throughout my entire 1st pregnancy and plan to as long as I can with this one :)

I don't know if this is what the PP was talking about when she said thongs are dangerous, but I know that they can transmit bacteria more than other underwear.  There is bacteria that is naturally found in poop and around the nether regions and having a little string for the bacteria can travel along increases your chance of getting a bacterial vaginal infection.

  • Seriously, not trying to be gross, but bacteria too small for you see can "travel" along your thong and lead to infections.  Also, there can be friction that can cause things like ingrown hairs or tiny abrasions where bacteria can get in.

    Gotcha, thanks for clarifying.

My thoughts exactly.  It'll be a sad day when I can't wear thongs any more.

When I was pregnant with DD I wore thongs almost up to delivery, I just bought larger ones.  This time I'm sure I'll do the same.

This exactly, I'm not interested in regular undies.

  • I would wear them almost everyday for work clothes or when we would go out.  I LOVE the cheeky ones from VS, but don't think I can fit my fat butt into any of them anymore.  I have not put a pair on in several weeks now, but haven't worn pants either where I would be concerned about a panty line.  I bought some nylon undies that are supposed to not show a panty line and they are super comfortable, so I haven't really missed them at all.  Now reading about the lovely nastiness that thongs can cause, I am seriously wondering if I will wear them ever again.

This exactly.  I do own regular underwear, but I actually think my thongs are more comfortable than regular underwear.

  • Thongs are all I own.  I have a lot of junk in the trunk and I'd rather have one skinny string up my butt than a huge wad.  Wipe front to back, keep yourself clean, and you shouldn't have bacterial issues.  I am 30 years old and have worn thongs since I was 17 and haven't had any bacterial issues or ingrown hairs.

Niether did I, but after listening to my Dr. and having the surgery (which was not related to thong wear, BTW) I decided to stop wearing them. Totally a personal choice. I say if you like 'em keep wearing them, just be careful Smile

  • I really only have thongs aside from a couple pair of the little booty shorts kind. I still wear them. I haven't noticed them to be uncomfortable now or anything.

  • for all you thong wearing ladies (myself included)  Old Navy has maternity thongs....I think they are $12 for 3 pair.  there are some outfits I just can't wear "regular" panites or I have VPL!
  • yep, still wearing them. They're getting tight though, so I'll probably buy some in a bigger size.

  • I'm not a thong wearer, but I plan to keep wearing cute undies throughout my pregnancy. Just because I'm going to be a mom doesn't mean I have to start wearing granny panties! Stick out tongue

  • I've never had a vaginal infection in my life and I wear thongs every day.  I had "period" panties, but those are a thing of the past for right now.

Not sure how I'll feel when I'm fat.  Not sexy that's for sure.  Tongue Tied

  • I have had a 'rhoid the size of a grape on my arse for about 2 years now. So... no.
