What is the significance of a coming home outfit? This probably sounds silly to some, but I have no clue why you dress a new baby up just to go home? I'm thinking that there will be family/friends at the house awaiting the arrival? I don't think there is anything wrong with it, just don't quite understand the reasoning? Please do explain!
Re: What is the significance of a coming home outfit?
For me, a coming home outfit is the first outfit the baby ever wears. In the hospital, they are all wrapped up in hospital stuff. Then they give the baby to you and she's all yours and you can put her in her little outfit and take her to her new home. To me, that's significant.
But that doesn't mean I'm going to put her in something frilly and uncomfy. Just something cute.
It's a ritual, like carrying a new bride across a threshold.
