Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

I have a boring question.

DD is a peanut. She has been since birth. Her doc is happy with her growth rate and she's doing great developmentally wise.

I know people just have to give their opinions, wanted or not, but I'm tired of the "wow, she's really little" type comments.

Humor me with your LO's weight at 12-13 months?

I'm not concerned about her since she eats great and her doc is happy, but I am a little curious where she fits in size wise.

DD is right at 18 lbs.

  • DS was 23 LBS...  but lost 2 LBS when he started walking.  If your LO isnt walking yet our pedia warned us it would happen.  It may or may not happen when your starts walking.
  • 20 lbs, 9 oz at 12 months.

  • I can't remember the 12 month - but at his 18 month he was only 20lbs. I have a peanut myself! But, like yours, my peanut is just fine, doc isn't concerned, he's doing well. I truly just ignore the "little" comments.
  • DD was 23 lbs at her appointment 1 1/2 months ago. She's already in some clothes for 24months - 2T.

I always hear how she looks big for her age. I'm not worried about it either though because she is healthy and happy.

  • Eli was 23 lbs. and Ben was 22 lbs. at 12 months.  But boys usually are bigger than girls.
  • B was an ounce shy of 24 at his year appt. He's probably 25+ now, because he's been eating like mad and feels a lot heavier than before.

  • DD was 20lbs 4oz at 13 1/2 mos...so prob 19 ish at 12 mos.
  • DD was 30.30lbs at 1year.  32 1/2 inches.  Shes a big girl
  • oh my goodness, DD is right at about 18 or 19 lbs NOW at 17 months! At a year she was a super tiny peanut :)  I don't remember her exact weight but it was in the 0-5 percentile, I remember that (and still is).  Our pedi is not worried (her nurse is, but oh well) and neither are we.

  • DD was 21 lb at her 12m appt but like the pp mentioned, she lost about a pound after she really took off walking.

  • DD was about 19lbs. at her 12 mo. appt. She's a peanut too, but has stayed pretty much on the same percentiles since she was born. She's just little!

  • DD was 18 pounds at her one year appointment.

At two, she weighs about 25 pounds.

  • DS was 19lbs at his 12 month appt.
  • DD didn't hit 20 until her 15 month appointment.
  • Both my boys were about 21 pounds.
  • She is 27lbs, but we have her 12 month appt tomorrow.
  • ds was 21 lbs at his 12 month appt
  • My LO was a little over 24 lbs at 12 months.
  • DD was only 16 lbs and 13oz. She fell beneath the growth chart. She was always between the 5-10%. I chalked it up to her being more mobile and lessening her bottles a day. We go back next month for her 15 month so we'll see how much she's gained.

  • DD is right there with your LO. She has been wearing the same clothes since Christmas - mostly 6-9 mo. She was 18 lb + some oz at 12 months.

DD is also a super active, big eating baby. I honestly have no idea why she is so little. I don?t worry, but all those comments really do start scratching away at my confidence. I have to ask our doctor to remind me that she?s healthy every once in a while ;)  Last time, she pointed out that the healthy/normal range for breast-fed infants is wider than for formula-fed. The CDC chart is based on formula-fed; the WHO chart is for breast-fed. DD is more like 25th percentile on the WHO chart, compared to ~15th percentile on CDC.

  • At 12 months DD was 18lbs. 6oz. She's a tiny little thing too. Her pedi isn't worried and neither am I.  She's a really good eater, not picky at all. She's always been pretty active which is why her pedi thinks that's why she's so tiny since she's very mobile. My oldest daughter who's 10 yrs old was also like that as a baby.  They're just petite, nothing wrong with that as long as their healthy.
  • I was 18 lbs at 1 year; babies on my side tend to be peanuts. My niece is the same age as my boys and she was 18 lbs at 1 year too.

My boys' 1-year weights were 21 lbs 7 oz (Will) and 23 lbs even (Alex).

  • DS was a little over 21 pounds.  He's only a little over 25 pounds now.  Once he started walking at 16 months, he got so skinny!

  • At 12 months - 18lbs 3oz At 15 months - 20lbs
  • At her 12 month she was 19lbs 6oz.
  • He's 22 lbs just shy of 12 months. He was a little peanut when he was born but now I have to hear about how ginormous he is. I'm like, not really, he's right around the 50th percentile.

People will find something to comment about no matter what!

  • DS was 28lbs at 1yr.  :)

    31 months!
  • My DD was 17 pounds at 13 months! The pedis have been semi concerned about her for a few months but then she did start gaining well and has been eating much more. They are not as concerned now and we don't have to do a monthly weight check this month. WOOTT!!
  • Mine was 26lbs at 11months. Don't get upset when people make those kinds of comments, I am sure they aren't meant to be disparaging.

There is nothing wrong with being little, and there is nothing wrong with being big. I get comments about my son being a behemoth all the time (not the actual word used) and I never get offended. He is who he is, and that's just fine.
He's tall, he's meaty, its constantly assumed that he is at least 6 months older than he is, but hey, who cares. He's healthy, and he's happy.

  • DD was 18lb 9oz at her 12mo appt and 31" tall
  • DD was 19 pounds at a year and has only gained one pound in the 6 months since.
  • DD is 21.5 lbs at 17 months, has not gained much if any since 12 months.
