Re: update: the "c" word

  • June - not sure I agree with the logic b/c I've had my ears pierced, I KNOW it hurts.  I have 3 holes in each ear.  I knew when I got Alexis' ears pierced that she would feel pain and that it would hurt her, and I went ahead and did it anyway, even knowing that it would hurt. So, I think having an understanding that it would be slightly painful and that they would not remember the pain and doing it anyway is not necessarily a justification.

Not saying she SHOULD do it, just saying that alone should not be a reason.

And, Mel, you CRACk me up!!!

OK Eve so you are pretty much certain they feel pain during the procedure, right?  In that case, would you go for the certain pain or the (remote) possibility that he may catch an infection?  Based on that alone, it would be a no brainer for me!

its OBVIOUS i dont want him to catch an infection june. i obviously dont want him to be a teenager and my having to ask him to drop his pants to make sure he cleaned right either.

though that wasn't what June was getting at, I think you've just answered your own question.

i think you're driving yourself crazy.  you need to take a breather and stop thinking about it.  come back to it with just facts, don't look at the 1 in a million scenario.  If everyone did that, NO ONE would get pregnant, be on birth control, drive a car, watch tv, drink alcohol, etc... There is always a chance, regardless of the circumstance, that something will go wrong.  Stop looking at the 1 in a millions and focus on what will be the best not only for Evan but for you (since you're the one changing diapers!)

  • DON'T DO IT!!  There is no benefit and when you look at the risks, including death, it's just not worth it.  We are the only country that routinely does this unnecessary procedure.  I feel like DS should make his own decision about his body and risk the procedure when his immune system is stronger... if he wants to.  Hope this helps!
  • OMG!!!!!!  I've missed out on A LOT while at work!  I've gone from frustrated to LMAO while reading all these posts.

Stop Googling!!!  It can drive you crazy! Maybe just step away from the subject, leave it in the back of your mind, and come back to it later when you have a clear head.  At that point, just discuss it with your DH and go with what you both feel comfortable with.
