Bottle cleaning ?

I've been washing LO's bottles and nipples in hot soapy water, daily. I don't have a dishwasher, so it's done by hand. Do i need to be doing more than this? Should they be boiled or sanatized daily?

Re: Bottle cleaning ?

  • I wash the same way, but about once a week (sometimes a little less often) I will boil them.

  • i just wash them in hot soapy water and let them air dry.  I have put them in the dishwasher, but I don't think they get as clean because it doesn't get into all the nooks and cranys.

  • We wash all of our bottles by hand too, since we don't have a dishwasher. I boil them usually once a week.

  • I do the same,  and sterilize them once a day.

  • Ditto for me! I use a bottle brush and hot soapy water.  I bought a sterilizer and I try to sterilize them every other day.
  • We only bottle feed once a day so I sterilize them before each use.  I wash them by hand and then use the Medela microwave sterilizer bags.

  • We wash in the dishwasher, but when we dont have a full load, we just rinse them out and use a bottle sterilizer in the microwave.

  • am I the only one that doesn't sterilize?  I guess I don't really see the point if the they are washed well with hot soapy water.

    I don't sterilize either.

This. And I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one...I just don't have the time unless I know there is a CERTAIN benefit! My LO drinks exclusively from bottles since about 2 weeks old and has never been sick.
