Pregnant after IF

I don't think I can make it

I had my most recent u/s at my 1st OB appointment on Friday.  She doesn't want to see me again until 12 weeks (8/20).  In the mean time I keep running across signatures with m/c in 8-11 weeks range, and my mind is swirling.

My m/s has decreased, my energy level is up, and my paranoia has gone up right along with it.   I was awake half of the night last night thinking about a baby with no h/b in my uterus.

I think I'm just too anxiety-ridden to wait until 12 weeks.  Given the state that I am in right now, I can only imagine what kind of basket case I'll be if I wait another 3 weeks.  Did anyone else deal with this?  I'm not sure how I can just carry on without worrying Sad

  • I have no advice but wanted to let you know that I feel the EXACT same way. Since we both feel this way, I'm assuming it is normal.

  • I know exactly how you feel. I had to wait 5 weeks in between when I was released from my RE until I had an u/s with my OB at 12 weeks. The weeks went by a lot faster than I thought. Something that eased my fears during the wait in between ultrasounds was my doppler. Once I hit 10 weeks I was able to pick up my little guys h/b. Good luck. I hope the time goes by quickly.

  • I had this problem between my 9th and 12th week appt.  Now I am going through the same thing, waiting on my 16th week appt (august 19th).  It seems so far away.   To top it off, I'm having major troubles picking up the h/b on my doppler (it was a cheapie) and am freaking out.  I am looking to order a better doppler to ease my mind.  Hang in there!

  • I feel the same way right now.  I had an appointment last Monday, and I won't be seen again until 3 weeks from now.  I don't have a growing belly yet and some days I just don't feel that pregnant.  I am really tempted to buy a doppler just for some peace of mind.

  • That's such a difficult time, waiting for that 12 week u/s. I hope time flies by to to your 12 week appt. My m/s starting going away around week 9, and as much as I hated it, I liked having it as a reminder.

  • Thanks ladies.  I wish I could manage to keep myself busy while I wait these agonizing few weeks.  I guess I need a hobby!

It's hard but the practice is pretty receptive, so if you feel like it's anything beyond PAIF anxiety, give them a call.

If they can help me bake my boys to 6lbs each, they can do anything!

  • I know exactly how you feel. I have to wait 3 weeks in between my next 2 appts. It is agony. I told DH that I live for the days that I have a doctors appt. Every day in between I am a hot mess of nerves.

I know the feeling.  I recommend staying off the first tri boards period.  It made me scared, paranoid and depressed.  I ended up buying a doppler at 10 weeks just so I wouldn't go into convulsions.

    ::hugs::

  • Yes, I can totally relate. I did have a late m/c (found at 12 weeks) with my first pregnancy. Luckily my OB is awesome and arranged things so I would have an u/s with her at 10 weeks, my NT scan at 12 weeks, and then another check with her at 13.5 weeks so I don't have to wait the usual 4 weeks. I will tell you taht it is very rare to have a missed m/c so late in pregnancy. You have seen a healthy baby, and that is what you should try to focus on hon.

If you are really worried about the m/s going away, I would call the OB and see what they say. Hang in there!

  • When I was first released to my OB, my OB saw me two weeks later, just to check in, which I loved because I don't think I could've gone longer between u/s. After my second OB visit, she started seeing me every 4 weeks, it feels like an eternity between appointments, I was always so afraid I'd show up and she wouldn't find a hb, but after two or three appointments, the paranoia went away somewhat. I say somewhat because I still worry on a daily basis, especially because I have a marginal placenta previa which is also anterior so I don't feel much movement. I think worrying is completely normal though, hang in there.

  • Yup - know the feeling exactly - my last U/S was almost 3 weeks ago and i am so stresses waiting for this next one (Thankfully it is Monday morning!)... as the day for the next one draws close i start to think more and more about the possibility of not seeing the h/b this time (saw a healthy h/b at last appt)....so it is a totally normal feeling.... only thing i can suggest is try to keep yourself as occupied on non-baby related stuff as possible to help make time go by quicker - that is what i have been doing and it seems to help (at least a little).  Good Luck!
  • Thanks ladies.  First tri seems to just crawl by... I need a hobby!
