2nd Trimester

Has anyone ever switched from team pink to blue?

I just read the post of someone who was told they have a boy, and now found out they are having a girl. Anyone ever had it the other way around? We had a u/s at 18 weeks. And we have to go back at 22 weeks for another one. They told us at 18 that we are having another girl, just wondering the chances that they made a mistake.

  • This happened to my DH's sister.  However, her ultrasound's never come out very clear, she is rather plus sized.

  • I've heard this happening more from girl to boy than the other way around.  I really dont think weight matters its the machines used in the ultrasound that has to do with it.  When I was pregnant with DS my first ultrasound was a small clinic with awful old technology.  You could bearly see the baby at all.  So I started going to a different place with high tech equipment and its clear as can be and I'm 18/20 pre pregnancy.  So I'm doubting that its the case for you since you had your scan at 18 weeks.  Reading stuff like that always gets us worried about it could happen to us.  GL at your 22 week scan Smile

  • That is crazy! My parents were told that I was a boy and came out a girl (surprise!). But that was many a years ago!! If our LO turns out a girl...our U/s tech has some explaning to do, especially with the great pic we got to see!
  • Sorry, boys are usually very obvious so I highly doubt it.

  • I've heard of boy to girl. The cases I've heard boy then girl they all have u/s's around 14wks and at that point you can only tell by the "angle of the dangle" so it's easy to get it mixed up.

  • One of my girlfriends had two ultrasounds done and she was told she was having a girl.  When she finally was induced at 42 weeks she popped out a baby boy.  When it comes to ultra sounds you can never be to sure.  With my son it was totally possitive he was a boy since his but was pressed right agains my stomach when they did the ultrasound the first time.  GL and keep us posted!

  • My cousin was told girl, then went in for another u/s and told boy.  Fast forward to June, and a little boy was born.  :)

  • I have no idea which is more common, but it makes sense to me that more often they would mistakenly tell you that you are having a girl when you are really having a boy.  Penises are hard to mistake, so I would think that if they see one, it's pretty obvious, but maybe not.  I'm guessing that a lot of these switches come when people are told the sex on an ultrasound where it's really too early to confidently say.

  • I've heard it happen from girl to boy,  never from boy to girl. I will let you know next week!! At my u/s that we had at 17 weeks the tech said girl. I go next week for my anatomy scan so we'll see what that tech says.

  • At 18.5 weeks we were told a girl

At 22.5 weeks we were told a boy

Yesterday 24 weeks we were told boy with good clear pic of the potty shot.

  • I work with a girl who was told she was having a girl.  She had a girly nursery, girly clothes... and out popped a boy.  She cried.  haha
  • I have  a friend that at u/s they said boy(and she was confident) at a later appt. they told her baby was a girl.  Baby was  a girl.
