People who spoil other people's big news by posting on their FB page! Most recent example - my friend K posted her big u/s results on her semi-secret blog this morning. Another friend, L, read the blog and went and posted on K's FB wall saying "congrats on the GIRL! blablabla" before K had mentioned anything on FB. And a few weeks ago, my cousin M had her baby girl A. She was team green and nobody knew the name, either. Someone goes on her FB page the night she had A and was like "YAY for your new daughter A!" Way to steal her thunder, asshat, now the whole FB world knows she had a girl AND knows this name she's been keeping a secret for years! Pretty sure M would have liked to share that herself.
Am I the only on that thinks this is mega rude? I never mention anyone's big news until I see them announce it themselves.
Random venty vent because I'm in a pissy mood at the moment.
Re: FB pet peeve
Agreed.
I agree. When Leo was born I was drugged and confined to a bed for 24 hours so I didn't do much phone calling/interneting. When I did finally get on a computer I was greeted by an announcement that a) I was in the hospital to have the baby and b) The baby was born, from my mom. I also had an email from my aunt, sent to my entire extended family, with pictures and details of the birth.
I honestly did not mind that I wasn't the one to tell people. My only issue was that I had close friends who weren't on facebook and who also weren't included in the email. I would have liked the opportunity to talk to them and share the news before random high school acquaintances were told, ykwim?
With Charlie I gave out strict orders that there was to be NOTHING on fb until I gave the go ahead. I must have been scary because no one breathed a peep of it for like two days until I got online
Agreed!
My MIL is determined to steal my baby thunder. When we told her, we told her specifically not to put anything on FB yet because we were still telling friends and family. She actually argued with me!!! She said, "It's my grandbaby and my Facebook page, I can do whatever I want."
It took all three of her sons flat out yelling at her to convince her not to do it.
Then she asked DH one day if we had thought about any names. I guess I should have had the, "Don't share these things" talk with him because he spit out several names. 1. We don't know the sex yet and 2. We haven't even come close to deciding on a name. Apparently MIL decided which one of thsoe she liked and posted a comment on MY wall about, "I can't wait to meet my grandson, C" WTF, LADY?!?! I was on the phone SO freakin fast telling her to delete that sh*t! Thankfully, as far as I know, only one person saw it before she deleted it, and that person knew we didn't have a name or know the sex (and knows my MIL is crazy).
Oh sorry, did I get on a tangent? My point was ... yes, some people mean to steal the thunder.
