should I be scared to add vinegar to my dipes?

for any reason?

I just see it so much here yet I read on BG's site not to... I have some inserts and now my pail liner still w/ ammonia smell after washing. DD's overnight diapers are BAD. I wanna just toss some vinegar in the next wash or do a soak but I'm scared it will ruin them in some way. Is this possible?

Thanks, ladies!

Re: should I be scared to add vinegar to my dipes?

  • I just do the soak on my non-PUL diapers.  I feel like adding vinegar to the pre-wash for all diapers is pretty harmless though.

Whoa, Luvlie is serious!  Take my advice with a grain of salt - I've had no problems, but that's just my experience.

Oh my gosh. See I am SO glad I asked! I was going to just do it then I figured I better consult the guru's!

So if I wash/soak the inserts (microfiber) on their own I'll be ok though?

ETA: Also, what the heck do I do to get the smell out of my wet pail liner? my diapers w/ PUL are fine but my liner is STANK! LOL

    Why?

  • I use vinegar in every load (rinse cycle) and have forever... no issues w/ any of my diapers or covers.

Vinegar neutralizes ammonia, so it's a good way to clear up the issue.  You could always do another cycle w/ baking soda to make sure all the vinegar gets neutralized.  Then just make sure you rinse good :)

Yeah, why?  It's the ONLY way to get rid of the ammonia smell from my son's diapers.  I haven't had any issues.
