I'm making banana pudding for about 20 people for tonight. I'd like to actually make it this afternoon. It's been quite a while since I've made it. But if I recall correctly, it might be better to make it and let it sit for a while? I'm making the no bake recipe---not old fashioned. We won't eat dinner until about 8 and I'd like to go ahead and make it, but I don't want it to be too mushy. Any advice on when I should make it and how long to let it sit in the fridge

Re: NBR. Banana Pudding--Technical Question
I'm not sure what recipe you are using. I use the Paula Deen recipe (which is awesome by the way) What I do is mix the pudding, cool whip, cream cheese, etc and let it sit in the fridge until I'm actually ready to start adding the bananas and cookies. This way, I have most of it done.
I've let mine sit (completely made) in the fridge around 3 hours before serving and it wasn't mushy. I don't think I would let it sit for much longer though.
You are very sweet to be making that for 20 people!
Awesome doesn't even begin to describe that recipe. It is TO.DIE.FOR!!!
And I think you should definitely let it sit for a while...so yummy once those flavors blend!
I always make mine ahead so it DOES get mushy! I love it when the cookies soak up the pudding. YUM.
And that Paula Deen recipe is SO freaking good. Def. make it sometime. It is really rich and costs a fortune to make because she uses Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies and they are pricey. But totally worth it!
And PS. Thanks a lot for making me REALLY want some banana pudding!
Okay, I completely agree. It is to die for!
Lala, I always use Nilla wafers (I'm cheap and I feel like Nilla wafers keeps it "suthun" (say it w/ a southern drawl) in my recipe. It's still so yummy!!
