My nephew had an accident with a belt sander tonight. I don't know the whole story, but his finger has nerve damage and he's being transferred to Boston Children's Hospital right now. He's not in critical condition, thank goodness, but they are trying to preserve all his fingers.
I am sitting in the waiting room waiting for them to arrive. (Love internet in the ER) If you have any positive thoughts/vibes, please send them our way.

Oh my gosh! I was thinking he was the one actually using it. I can't imagine the guilt the parent/caregiver must feel.
Oh, I am so sorry to hear this. If it's any comfort at all this happened to a friend of mine when he was young on a farming belt sander and he did lose feeling and the very tips (above the nail line) of his fingers but it is hardly noticeable and does not bother him at all.
I will be sending T&Ps your way!
