We have a Diaper Champ from our other two and it seemed to keep the smell under control with disposables. Has anyone used one of these for CDing? It has an inner ring to secure a bag, so I figured I would just use a PUL pail liner instead of the plastic trash bag we used before. Does anyone know of any reason that it wouldn't work?

General consensus is that it makes the diapers smell a lot more sealing them up that way than letting them breathe a bit in a regular trash can with wetbag liner. Plus, it's hard getting them in and out of there.
I see a lot of people using the stainless steel kitchen ones, so I'm not sure how those let them breathe any more than the champ...is it just from the act of actually opening and closing the lid?

I got it for free off of craigslist. If you already have a champ, I say try it. It won't be that hard to buy a new step can if you decide you don't like it.
If you don't have one, I wouldn't buy one, but go the trashcan route. CDs really don't stink in the way that disposables do.
Gotcha! Our kitchen can has rubber on both the lid and top of the can, so it's pretty airtight when it's closed. I guess it's a matter of finding one that isn't like that.

Thanks. We already have one, and it seemed silly to just let it sit and get something new. I figure just being in a more breathable bag will help them not stink as much as the disposables. Plus we'll be rinsing most of the solids out, as opposed to the disposables just having all the poo sitting in there. Even then, they only stank when we took the bag out to the trash.
I guess I'm of the "we're used to diaper stink" camp, so if it smells a bit going to the laundry, it won't be a major issue for us.
