If you don't mind sharing (not judging ANYONE and those wanting to judge need not enter), I'm interesting in seeing if my "hippy" book stats are applicable here, so...
How many weeks were you? Why did you get one? did you end up having a c-section or deliver vaginally? and if you wanted to go naturally were you able to?
I always felt that the books I read, although I thoroughly enoyed them, might be biased, but the post below has me wondering.
Re: If You Were Induced
Technically I was induced...but that was because my water broke and I didn't go into labor on my own. They put me on pitocin to get my contractions started.
I was induced with my 1st because I went 41 wks, 5 days and my doc agreed to it after begging from me to get this thing out. I labored w/o an epi as long as I could stand it and wasn't progressing so I got that, too. Then, after 3 hrs of pushing they threatened me with a c/s and 2 min later, out he popped. I think he just really wasn't ready.
No pitocin with the 2nd.
How many weeks were you?
1st baby - 39 wks - medically for the baby
2nd baby - went on my own at 38 wks but requested pitocin since my labor stalled since had problems with the epidural & blood pressure
3rd baby boy - induced at 39 weeks - I just felt there was something wrong.. & I was right - cord wrapped around his neck - he ended up being okay but if I waited any longer it could have been worse.
Why did you get one? explained above.
did you end up having a c-section or deliver vaginally? all vaginal deliveries
and if you wanted to go naturally were you able to? I could have, & I tried for my last.. but the contractions were too close together & too hard - I was not getting any break inbetween.
I was induced 6 days early due to protein in my urine. Got to 4 cm, water broke, everything was going fine, got epidural, then baby's HR started to plummet so I was rushed in for emergency c-section
Same here. Water broke and we waited all night for contractions to start. When they didn't, midwife had me go to hospital in the morning and start a little pitocin. I did have the natural birth I wanted. No drugs, just the pitocin to start my contractions. She was born sunny side up too. What book are you reading? I loved Ina May's Guide to Natural Childbirth!
Yeah, I loved Ina May's too. I also ready The Official Lamaze Guide, Birthing From Within, a Bradley Method Book and part of Homebirth in the Hospital
Oh, and FWIW, when he came out, despite being 12 days overdue and his momma being 8lbs,15oz when she was born, he was relatively small at 7lbs,1oz, so I think he knew what he was doing by staying in there a little longer.
I was induced at 41w4d after failing a NST and then the bio-physical profile. Hoped to go drug free (bradley), induced with pitocin, made it eight hours and got an epi, which was not as effective as one might hope, and which I blame in part for my fabulous tearing. Kid was fine, it seems like the lack of movement was just bad timing of the tests.
How many weeks were you? Exactly 38.
Why did you get one?Low amniotic fluid.
Did you end up having a c-section or deliver vaginally? I ended up with a C-section. My daughter's heart rate was plummeting during contractions.
I was induced with both babies.
Baby 1 at 41 exactly because my doctor was concerned about my blood pressure. I had drugs (thank goodness) and delivered vaginally in 12 hours.
Baby 2 at 41 weeks because I am a neurotic planner and wanted to have my parents here to watch DD #1. I had a good experience with my first induction and found it easy and was happy to repeat it. DD was 9 lbs 4 oz and I suffered from some complications due to her size so I was incredibly grateful to deliver at 41 weeks and not wait. Again, I delivered vaginally with drugs and no issues.
induced at 39 weeks for pre-e.
admitted to L&D, manually dilated to 3 cm (by doc ... OUCH!) started pitocin, 2 hrs later at 10 cm (with epi), pushed her out in 8 mins.
SUPER successful induction and every one was ok... 9.5 lbs of beauty
I was induced on my due date, because I was not making ANY progress and DS was getting too big for me. I was planning on a vaginal birth and I was able to have one! I wasn't too keen on doing the induction, but at that rate I might have ended up with a c-section, and there's no telling how long DS would've taken
I'm glad because I am the first one out of my mom and aunts to have a vaginal birth!

Induced at 41 weeks due to raising BP.
After 30 hours of labor I only progressed to 5cms.
Had a C section due to the baby not tolerating the labor well.

I was pretty much induced for both, so I'll give you both "stats"
DD1 I was scheduled to be induced at 41 weeks. The day before, labor started but totally stalled and I wasn't dilating past 1.5cm. Since I had gone to the hospital and I would have come back the next day to be induced anyway, they started it that night (pitocin only).
DD2 I was scheduled because I was a week late (almost). She was 9.5 lbs at birth so I am so thankful that I was induced when I was, and not later! Also only pitocin was needed. No gel or anything since I was already dilated to 3.
With both girls: 40w6d. Vaginal delivery. Epi (planned).
BFP 5/07 - Kylie born 2/08. BPF 2/09 - Alexandra born 10/09.
TTC since 8/13 - diagnosed difficulty conceiving due to LP defect. Took vitamin B and Vitex Berry to help lengthen.
BFP 2/14 - Missed M/C found at 8.5 weeks. D&C at 9w2d. Partial Molar Pregnancy.
BFP 11/14

40+ weeks. Induced because I wanted my dr to deliver and did not want to give birth on christmas day. Ended up with a c-section.
How many weeks were you? 39w5d
Why did you get one? Suspected very broad shoulders/rising BP. In retrospect, it was a pretty BS reason...but at the time, I didn't care. I was done being pregnant. And when they strapped the monitors to my belly, we discovered that I was in labor already anyway! I was contracting regularly and had no idea. My cervix had progressed significantly since my appt the day before, and DS had dropped 2 stations. All I ended up needing was the lowest dose of pitocin for a couple hours...then my body took over and did the rest. So it turned out to be more of a kick-start than an induction.
did you end up having a c-section or deliver vaginally? Vaginally.
and if you wanted to go naturally were you able to? I was in the camp that said, "if I can do it naturally, great, but if not, I'm not afraid of the epi." Yeah, that didn't last long. My epi rocked.
I was induced at 40w2d because we had concerns about DS's size (especially his head size).
I ended up with a c-section after pushing for 2 hours and a diagnosis of cephalopelvic disproportion.
How many weeks were you? Exactly 39 weeks when I was admitted.
Why did you get one? I had GD and low amniotic fluid.
Did you end up having a c-section or deliver vaginally? Vaginally.
And if you wanted to go naturally were you able to? Didn't want to go natural, drugs all the way.
How many weeks were you? 40 weeks on the nose
Why did you get one? Dangerously low fluid
did you end up having a c-section or deliver vaginally? vaginally
How many weeks were you? Why did you get one? did you end up having a c-section or deliver vaginally? and if you wanted to go naturally were you able to?
I was 40 weeks, 1 day. I was sealed up like Ft. Knox and miserable, I asked for the induction. I did have a c-section, baby was posterior. I got to 9 cm and she would not come because of her position. I have read that posterior babies will eventually turn. I wish I had not be induced because of this.
How many weeks were you? 41wks
Why did you get one? impending blizzard and dr practice induces at 1 week past due (turned out to be JUST in time...20 inches of snow the night he was born)
did you end up having a c-section or deliver vaginally? cervidil was place at 6pm thursday evening, 1am friday morning my water broke on it's own, only 1.5cm dilated 60% effaced, STRONG back to back contractions from 1am till 2pm stuck at 1.5cm, no drugs given until that point, then they gave me something to let me sleep (thank GOD, since I didn't sleep AT ALL the past night) by 3pm it was decided that A) I could go another 2-3 hours and see if I progressed or
c-section then...I was adviced that I I probably wouldn't progress fast enough not to end in a c section anyways...3:54pm Nathan was born via c-section.
and if you wanted to go naturally were you able to? I had wanted to go vaginally but with drugs...was not to happy too have a c-section.
