TTC After a Loss

will you share your TTC/TTCAL story?

I would like to know your stories.  I know some here and there, but I don't know alot about some of the ladies who've been here awhile, unless it's in their signatures.  I hope this isn't Debbie Downer'ish, I just want to kind of know where everyone comes from.

I'll start.  Hi, my name's Trisha.

I've been TTC since we got married in 2004.  I tried natural methods, temping, charting, to find out I wasn't O'ing.  DH had an awful, AWFUL semen analysis - OB told us we had .01% chance of conception on our own. I also found out I have PCOS, OB put me on Met and threw some Clomid at me.  She made me feel like a freak.  In Jan 2009, I saw an RE who ran some tests, did a GTT, an HSG, showed I had blocked tubes. So, I had an investigative laparoscopy that showed everything was fine, the HSG was a freak incident.  Another SA for DH and got stellar results. Started Clomid around February, did 3 rounds, O'ed once.  Then we had the "talk," she moved us to injectables and recommended an IUI.  First inject cycle in Sept 2009, I stimmed for TWENTY NINE days (usual is around 12'ish) and O'd around CD 32 with 2 follies.  First and only BFP Oct 2009 were my twins - they were lost at 18 weeks to incompetent cervix, totally unforeseen.  Did back to back IUI's last cycle after 17 stim days = BFN.  I'm on Cd9 today and had an 8.9mm follie so I should have something measurable next week to proceed with another IUI and tons of FWP.

That's my TTC/TTCAL story.

Re: will you share your TTC/TTCAL story?

  • Great idea Trisha, I know I am not a super avid poster but I try to look in on people and would love to know everyone's stories as well.

    So, Hi, I'm Allyson.

DH and I have been TTC since Aug.2009, got BFP on 1/4/10! Had natural miscarriage due to blighted ovum on 1/29/10. I actually work for my Ob/Gyn So I was pretty monitored the entire time. After two months with crazy cycles, things have gotten back to normal since april. My Ob put me on Clomid since the Miscarriage but it didn't really work out for me. This cycle I stopped it. I haven't started charting yet, but if it is another BFN this cycle I will be starting for next. I have a more positive outlook now though, because my OB said in Aug. we'll start another process of Semen analysis, possible IUI's, etc. Anyway, I love getting know you all and my T&P's are with you all!

  • My name is Ashley.  I just turned 31 and DH is almost 32.  We have been married for almost 6 years and in Feb. 2009, decided to start TTC, thinking it would be about 6 months before we got pregnant.  Well, 11 months later, I finally got my BFP on 1/28/10.  On 2/18/10, we were able to see our LO and hear the HB of 127 (the most amazing sound.  Ever.).  We were over the moon and couldn't wait until 12 weeks to tell everyone.  I went in on 3/8/10 to be checked because I was spotting and bleeding a bit.  This time, we saw the LO (who had grown quite a bit), but no HB.  I broke down right then and there on the table with the US tech.  We went home and waited it out, and I naturally m/c on 3/9/10.

No one knows we were pregnant or I had a m/c.  We chose to keep this in our family (DH and I).  One word to our families and it would spread like wildfire and it would have been the first grandchild on both side - rough to tell.  I think when I get pregnant again, we will wait 10-12 weeks to tell everyone but let them know that we are cautiously expecting and here's why.  This is my third cycle TTC again.  It's frustrating but I'm trying to stay positive.  I'm on CD 16 and believe I O'd yesterday.  I'm just hoping and praying that this is our month and I'll get my BFP in about two weeks.

    That's my story!

  • My IRL name is Laura.  My story is in my siggy.  I find it hard to memorize all the details on the people on here, so I tried to make it easy and put a "cliff notes" version of our TTC tale in the siggy.

  • I'm Kelly, and DH and I have been trying since spring of 2009. I went off of BC when he got back from basic training. I didn't temp, but I used OPKs and FF starting in April 09. On Halloween 09 we got our BFP. Things seemed good until I was (mis)diagnosed with a partial molar pregnancy. The D&C was December 17. My pre-op u/s showed no more traces of the PMP, and the surgery confirmed that it was a missed miscarriage instead.

We started trying again in Feb. after one cycle, on a regiment of Dr. ordered baby aspirin. I was O'ing late, and had a 9-11 day LP. My Dr. put my on 50 mg Clomid for May's cycle, without success. At a year of TTC, we were sent to an RE. I stopped temping this cycle, and was given the 100 mg Clomid. I still didn't O any earlier, but I did get my BFP today, so it did something!

  • I'm Brandy, I have been TTC #2 for a little over a year now.  I m/c in Oct. at 8weeks.  I got pg. with #1 first month we tried and now we are having trouble trying for #2.  I hope it happens soon for us and for all of you. I finally gave in and started charting this cylce and love seeing what my body is doing!

  • Hi I'm Cristine. I'm 33, DH is 35. We have two beautiful little boys who are 6 and 3, both were conceived relatively easily. Decided we wanted all our kids 3 years apart so we started trying again in July 2009. I got a BFP January 7, 2010. From the beginning that pregnancy felt off. I wasn't as sick, but I was so tired I could barely function. At 9 weeks I started bleeding lightly at first. A few days later I passed a small clot went in for the ultrasound and found no hb and the baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks. I was devestated. Been trying again after m/c for 3 cycles now. I don't know how I would have gotten through this without this board and my IRL friends who've been through it.

  • My name is Maureen.  DH really wanted to wait to start ttc for at least a year and a half after we got married, so I got off bc pills in April 2009. We didn't start really trying until August 2009 (temping, charting, using opk's etc).  I got a bfp at the end of November/early December.  I had an early ultrasound at 5 weeks which showed just a gestational sac and fetal pole- we knew it was too early to see a heartbeat or anything else really.  On New Years Eve we went back in to see the baby's heart beat (it was DH's first visit to the OB and he was so nervous/excited).  I knew something was wrong as soon as the dr started the ultrasound- he was so quiet and then said "oh come on".  I just started saying "no, please no".  It was over- no heartbeat and the baby was only measuring 6 1/2 weeks.  I had a d&c the next week.  We started trying again in April and the nerves and anxiety are out of control.

  • My name is Taylor and my DH and I have been ttc for over a year now...We conceived July 2009 and in Aug I began spotting...We had a confirmed natural m/c at 8wks6days...We have been ttcal since then with absolutely no luck at all...My new dr ran a whole whack of blood tests this month and I am scheduled for a pelvic ultrasound next week, so hopefully we will get some answers soon...I have recently started telling people irl about our pregnancy and loss because I find talking about it to be cathartic and I want people to know about our first little peanut...

  • Hi, I am Lauren and my basics are also in my siggy, but here is the longer version.  Started TTC in October 08 after stopping Depo Provera in Dec. 07.  First 5 months were anovulatory, but since the longest cycle was 55 days, my OB wouldn't do anything.  Finally Od in March 09 and had irregular cycles until my annual in August where my OB referred me to an RE for suspected endo.  My Lap revealed Stage I and DH's SA was normal but morph was at the low end of normal at 7%.   Clomid thinned my lining too much (only a 5), and 2 IUI cycles with injectables also failed.  My lining has never been over a 7 ever.  Our first natural cycle while on a medicated break before IVF was our chemical pregnancy.  Since then I have had one really long cycle with multiple O fakeouts and it looks as though I am still having trouble with OPKs.  Right now I have a call into our RE for horrible back and ovary pain.  We are trying naturally until Fall/Winter when I can switch to Dh's insurance plan for IVF.

  • Hi I'm Amye

Jay and I have been TTC since 2004.

We finally got lucky after 6 rounds and 6 breaks from fertility medication. I got my 1st ever BPF on 11/3/2009. On 12/4/2009 my ultrasound showed I was having triplets.  My mother was estatic, my jaw was on the ground.

In January I started spotting, we went to the ER and found that one of the triplets shopped growing.

I carried the twins until I was 23 weeks 1&2 days.

Right now I am TTA due to lost of job in 3 months. I am hoping we will be able to try again soon.

  • It's been a long 10 years for us. I'm not totally comfortable talking about everything, but we were actively trying. We finally got our BFP this past Valentine's Day, only to have it end in a miserable miscarriage in April. The day we saw the heartbeat was the happiest day of our lives, though, and I just need to hold onto that.

Not sure where to go from here, but know that my fear of another failure is greatly outweighed by my desire to be a parent.

  • I'm Emily :)  DH and I got married in June of 2007, and started TTC #1 in December of that year.  Got pregnant in May, had DS in Feb of '09 - it was a pretty uneventful and normal pregnancy.

We started TTC #2 in August of 2009, when I was still breastfeeding DS and hadn't gotten my period back since his birth.  I don't think I ovulated until December, when I got pregnant (never had AF).  I had a natural miscarriage at about 6ish weeks on January 16th (we don't know exactly how old the baby was because my doc only did one beta, and wouldn't do an u/s yet).  I was given methotrexate, and told that we could go ahead with trying again immediately.

I got pregnant immediately following that m/c (on an extremely long cycle, I got pregnant around CD 45, and got a BFP on CD 60).  I carried that baby a bit longer, but miscarried around 7 weeks (after a week of bleeding - and seeing the heartbeat on ultrasounds).  That was April 6th.

I pushed to see an RE, and we're currently undergoing testing.  My RE is pretty sure I have PCOS (we're doing testing to confirm, but he says he would diagnose me without the test results, based on my symptoms).

I just finished a 66 day cycle with my FIRST period since before DS was born (so, since April of 2008!) - pretty excited about this.  We are TTA this cycle (taking BCP) and then hopefully will have all the test results back and a plan of action before the next cycle, when we will TTC.  The plan moving forward most likely includes Metformin and Clomid - with the possible inclusion of other drugs if we are diagnosed with more problems.

  • Hi I'm Misty. I was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2000. Since then, I've had 3 laparoscopic surgeries to remove it and 1 LEEP to remove abnormal cells. DH and I started TTC in July of 2009 and I got my BFP in December. At about 6 wks, I started bleeding. I went to the ER and was diagnosed with a subchorionic hematoma, but the baby seemed fine and I got to see the h/b. The doctors told me I *should* be okay b/c my SCH wasn't that big. Two weeks later, I went for another ultrasound to check on the bleed, and sadly, the baby didn't have a h/b. I had a D&C on 1/19. I waited 2 cycles and we started trying again in March with no luck yet.

  • Good idea Trisha!

My name is Amy (obviously). I am 37 years old, my DH is 41. We've been TTC since July 2009, and got our BFP on Valentine's Day 2010. Sadly we lost our baby at 11w5d in April.

We've been cleared to try again, and because we've only had the one loss no testing was done, and it is assumed we will be successful next time. We hope.

When I was 18 I was dx with Stage IV endo. After having my daughter at 25 I really didn't have any more significant problems with endo. I really don't know the status of things now, but if we aren't pg within a few months I will look into it.

Hello - my name is Nicole. My husband and I got married in 08/06 and I was off birth control as of 02/09. I wasn't charting but I was keeping track of my cycles and every month they kept getting longer. In September I went to the Dr. who diagnosed me with PCOS and gave me Clomid. On the first round of Clomid we got our BFP (11/07/09)!

We went in for our first ultrasound on (Wed) 12/2 and during that ultrasound the Dr. didn't see anything and told us it was a miscarriage. I had my betas done again on Friday and that day they went up but didn't double so the Dr. asked me to come in again on (Mon) 12/7. We went in and he found the heartbeat in my left tube. I had laparoscopy and a D&C on 12/8 (the baby was 9w1d). I also lost my left tube.

The Dr. said we only needed to wait until I got my first AF and then we were able to start trying again. We tried one cycle without Clomid and have now done 3 more cycles with Clomid. This cycle we were going natural as I have my first appointment with an RE on 06/29.

Started TTC in 2/09. Dx with PCOS in 09/09. BFP on 11/7/09.
Dx with Ectopic on 12/7/09. Laparoscopy, D&C, and lost my left tube on 12/08/09.
    01/11 = BFP!

  • Hi ladies - my name is Lauren. Got married in December 2006 and had to wait to start TTC until April 2008 when DH got back from deployment. We tried for a year with no luck and finally got referred to an infertility specialist. The plan was to start taking Clomid but I didn't have a cycle for 4 months. Got put on Provera (which didn't work) then I received a shot of progesterone which finally got things rolling. Took Clomid for 4 months and finally got my first BFP on February 7. I had all the normal pregnancy symptoms from week 6 on. DH and I went in for our 11 week appointment and found out we had a missed miscarriage. Baby stopped growing at 6 weeks, 6 days. I had my D&C on April 2. I actually go to the RE for the first time today and I'm hoping he'll put me back on Clomid again.

  • Hi I'm Marie,

I married my DH in Oct '07 and was surprised to get pg so quickly with my DD--- she was born in Sept. '08.  DH and I planned to ttc baby # 2 late this spring but I had a surprse BFP in late March.  I was so pleasantly surprised and excited.  Then I started spotting abot two weeks later and I couldn't believe my eyes. By the time I got to the dr.'s office I knew I was miscarrying, I was 6w and 2d.  Dr. said to wait at least two cycles before ttc again.  My second AF after m/c just arrived (a week late just to mess with me.)  So, we are going to ttc this cycle (from here on out).  I have started recording info, but not temping yet.  We shall see.

  • Hi ladies!!

My name is Michelle, 26 and DH is 31.

We started TTC about the begining of last year (on and off, no charting or anything, just having a lot of sexy time). We got our first ever BPF early December. Everything was normal, growth was good, HB was good. I was 19.5 weeks and sleeping. At 6 am on 3/26 my water broke. The fluid was clear with spots of blood in it. I was rushed to the ER and confirmed my water broke and was going into early labor. I was sent home because the baby still had a heartbeat and the hospital wouldn't deliever the baby because in that hospital they consider that an abortion (I know it sounds bad and I don't mean to offend anyone, it was the hospitals rules). So they sent me home hoping the placenta would repair and the fluid would refill, had a follow up appointment with normal OB the next morning and confirmed the baby no longer had a heartbeat and I was in full labor, having contractions and the cord was already out and the baby was coming. I was admitted into L & D about 10 Am and had my beautiful little baby girl by 2 PM. They think it was due to IC and an infection.

It's been almost 3 months since our loss and we have been cleared to try again. At this point we aren't charting or temping, just letting it happen.

  • My name is Kim.  I have two sons - Alex is almost 4 and Foster is almost 17 months.

DH and I had a surprise BFP in January.  We were very shocked and so excited.  We found out we were having a 3rd son and we named him Matthew.  We lost him at 18 weeks to a chromosome disorder.

It has been really hard. We are so lucky to have our sons to keep us busy and remind us how blessed we are, but we still hurt so much.

We are ttc again.  I am on CD 14 of my first cycle since the loss.

  • Hi everyone - My name is Abby.  I'm 27 and DH is 28.  We were married on 09/12/09 and weren't actually trying... I think that the stress of the wedding caused me to miss by BCPs for about a week and a half, so we got a BFP on 10/05/09.  We were thrilled, even though we weren't trying... We dated for about 7 years before we got married, so it didn't feel like it was too early.  Unfortunately, I had a natural m/c on 10/22/09.  The really crappy thing is that I was working out when I had the m/c, so I am totally freaked out to work out now... I know that it probably didn't have anything to do with it, and that is what the dr. said, but it is so hard to overcome it.  We never went back on BCP after the m/c, but we started actively TTC in April, and we are on our 3rd cycle right now.

I test in one week, so keeping fingers crossed!!

  • Hi Ladies,

Wow, I feel very selfish for being so upset about my miscarriage. I read every single one of your stories and they are so touching.  I just want to say how sorry I am for all of your losses :(

DH and I have been married since February of this year. Ever since we got engaged we had always talked about having children and we wanted to try asap because we knew how long the process could take.  My third cycle I got my BFP.  I started spotting at 5m3d so, I went to my Dr and she could not see a sac.  I was told to prepare for a m/c and soon enough i started to bleed bad.  I go back wednesday to make sure my levels are back down to 0.  The Dr. said we are ok to TTC after my next AF.

Again, I'm so sorry for your losses.

  • Mine is pretty much in my siggy. The only thing that isn't is my testing. I had a RPL panel and my chromosomes done last Sept and all was negative or normal. DH had normal chromosomes too. I start more testing with my RE as soon as AF makes her grand return.

  • I'm Sarah.  DH and I are both 28.  We have been married for 9 months and started TTC in Oct 09.  We got KU on the second month trying, which ended in a missed m/c at 8w3d.  The baby had stopped growing right at 8w.  Dates are in my siggy.  We are now on our 4th month TTCAL.  I thought we would get pg again right away like we did last time, but it's taking a little longer.

  • Good idea, I really like these posts and reading everyone's story.

My name is Danielle, I'm 28 and DH is 30.  DH and I got married in June 2007, went off bcp right away, got pregnant 6 months later, without really trying...no charting, opk's, etc.  Pregnancy progressed normally until we went in for our big u/s at 18 weeks.  We found out it was a girl, and she was growing right on schedule.  But, my cervix was dilated 3cm and I was effaced.  I was immediately sent to the hospital and met with the high risk drs.  They did an exam and confirmed that I was dilated and effaced.  They prescribed medication to try and stop me from dilating or effacing any further.  I was too effaced for a cerclage.  By the time we got home from the hospital, it was too late to stop at the pharmacy and get my prescriptions filled.  That night, I work up around 4am, felt like a huge bucket of water had been poured on me.  I knew immediately that my water had broken.  So, we went to the emergency room and I was strapped up to monitors.  My water had definitely broken, but I wasn't having contractions.  We were given 3 choices: 1. Have a d&e.  2. Induce labor and deliver naturally.  3. Go home and hope for the best, but have an increased risk for infection, which could harm my chances of getting pregnant later.  We opted for choice #1.  I just really didn't feel that I was strong enough to go through labor and delivery, and see my child that small and underdeveloped.  So, a couple hours later I was taken in for a d&e, then sent home.  And just like that, 4 months of pregnancy were gone.

I cried every day for well over a week, but finally pulled myself together.  We had testing done on the fetus and on me, to check for chromosomal abnormalities, or infection.  Everything came back normal, so either I have an incompetent cervix, or this was just a one time fluke.  Next time I get pregnant, I'll be a high risk patient and I'll be put on p17 shots around 16 weeks to prevent early dilating/effacing, have bi-weekly ultrasounds, and have a cerclage put in if needed.

About 3 months after my miscarriage we started to conceive again.  Tried for a year, had some testing done through my OB's office, everything came back normal (or so we thought), then I finally made an appt with an RE.  The RE diagnosed me with low progesterone and put me on 50mg of clomid.  That wasn't quite strong enough, so the next cycle I did 100mg of clomid and an IUI.  BFN so I had a laparoscopy/hysteroscopy done, and had uterine polyps and endometriosis removed.  Cycle after that I did another round of 100mg of clomid and IUI.  BFP!  But, my hcg and progesterone levels have been decreasing, so now I'm waiting to m/c.  Once I m/c naturally or have a d&c, we'll be able to start ttc again that next cycle.  We'll jump right in with clomid and IUI again.

My story exhausts me!  Thanks so much for reading, if you read the whole thing!

  • My name is Jennifer and I am 38.  TTC for over two years now.  Last October I was shocked to get a bfp after 13 months of actively trying.  Sadly, I had a natural m/c 11weeks 2 days.  Saturday is my EDD.  It has been over six months since our loss and I am deemed infertile.  Last month was our first IUI, which was a total bust and I didn't respond to the drugs one bit.  This time, we had better success and am currently in the 2ww.  If this IUI doesn't work, that pretty much wraps up our journey.

More information in my siggy blog link.

  • My name is Maggie

We started TTC in December of 08. We took 2 months off of trying in March and April because we were getting ready to go to Ireland with my parents. We got our BFP August 14,2009.  Now for TTCAL we were told to wait 6 months and that we could start trying in August. After a few dozen blood draws, drs appointments and everything coming back as a negative or a fluke we got the green light to start trying now.  My O hasn't been confirmed, but I've o'd on CD14 or 15 for the past 3 years so I think I'm in my first 2ww ttcal.

  • DH and I are about a month and half shy of our 8th wedding anniversary.  We had planned to TTC in Oct 2007 but I got pregnant two months early.  On Oct 1, 2007 at 10 weeks, I had my first ultrasound only to discover a blighted ovum and had a D&C 3 days later.  I found out I was pregnant a week after I found out that I was getting laid off from my job.

Thankfully I was able to find another job quickly and started on Oct 15.  At this time, we decided to wait until April 08 to TTC again.  Unfortunately, I was laid off again in December.

I was able to find another job in April so we planned on TTC in Oct 08.  Once again two months later in June 08, I was laid off.

My next position started in July 08 so we planned on TTC in May 09.  But once again I was laid off in May 09.

My next job is the one I am currently in now which started in June 09.  We decided to wait until August 2010 to TTC but just found out yesterday that a side effect of the medication my husband has been taking is a low sperm count.  He will finish this medication at the end of July.  So once again we have to push back the TTC date until October of this year.  At this point I am praying it doesn't get pushed back again.

  • i love these threads b/c it's so great to get to know all the new people that are joining us (i hate that so many join every day, but if you've gotta go somewhere, might as well be here, b/c it rocks!)

DH and I got married on our 5 yr dating anniversary 4/3/9. we weren't planning on trying for at least a year, prob 2. but we both LOVE kids. Aug. 19 we got a surprise BFP. like big surprise. i had gone off BCP in june b/c of side effects (everything imagineable as well as major gall bladder issues that i just recently found out were possibly caused by yaz). so this was my first cycle off BCP and we had sex ONE time in like two weeks and the condom happened to break, and it happened to be the last likely day i would've been Oing. and surprise, BFP! :) but we were really excited..as were both our families!

my mom works at a pregnancy center in town so we got to do an early u/s (7 weeks) and saw the baby and the h/b. the tech said the baby was only measuring 6w and some days which i thought was weird b/c i knew when it had to have happened but we just figured implantation took awhile. We went in for our first official dr's u/s at 9wks and they couldn't find a hb and said the baby stopped growing at 7 wks or so. probably shortly after we had the first u/s.

we found all this out on a Thursday. bleeding started sunday. monday morning i woke up and passed the sac. (TMI Warning) i could actually see my itty bitty baby inside. so surreal and out of body experience. it was so tiny. and it was gone. Bleeding had stopped by later that week. the whole thing ended so very quickly.

we weren't ready to start ttc again until jan of this year. that was when i realized that i had only had 1 AF visit since the end of sept. In Feb i saw the dr and we diagnosed that i was no longer Oing. I did 3 cycles of prometrium (progesterone) to try and get my body on a cycle and hopefully O. i've only Od 2 or 3 times since my m/c in sept. This cycle we did Clomid and i am hoping and praying that it worked. our timing wasn't great, but i'm having "sighns" like no frickin other! so we're keeping everything crossed and i'm starting testing tomorrow at 10 dpo :)

  • Hi ladies!  My names is Tiffany.  I'm 32 (33 on July 1) and DH is 33. We've been married for close to 4 years.  We started TTC in September '09 and got our BFP on Oct. 31.  I had a lot of spotting, was misdiagnosed with a subchorionic hematoma, then sent for an MRI to rule out an ectopic pregnancy.  The MRI showed that I have a septate uterus.  I switched to my MFM and was being monitored for several things, including incompetent uterus.  Because of that I was having weekly scans - at 18 weeks and 2 days Elijah was great - HB in the 180's and sucking his thumb!  At 19 weeks and 2 days there was no heartbeat.  We were all shocked, including my Dr.  I was induced and delivered him at 19w5d on 2/18/10.  It was discovered that my placenta had an infarct (a main portion of it had died), and further testing showed that I have non-pregnancy related MTHFR and an elevated PAI-1.  (clotting disorders) We TTA'd for 3 cycles, and are in our 2nd cycle TTC since then.  As soon as I (hopefully!) get a positive test I will begin daily heparin injections for the duration of the pregnancy, assuming that my septum doesn't cause any issue this time.  Thanks Trisha!
  • Hello - My name is Sarah. I'm 32 and my hub will turn the big 3-0 in November. We got married in September, 2007 and started trying to make a baby in April, 2009. After assuming I was a FH, but then not getting pregnant for 3 months, we temped and used OPK's with no success. For the month of December, we decided to take it easy with the Holidays coming and just see what happens ("Relax, and it'll happen", right?!). We got a BFP on New Years Eve. My pregnancy was very uneventful and I did every last thing the way you're supposed to.... but our baby boy had a birth defect that caused many other problems, and an ultrasound on 4/20/10 showed no heartbeat. I delivered him and we gave him the name Evan.

This is our first month TTC, and if you've seen any of my previous posts - you know that my cycle is completely effed this month! We hadn't planned to use any helpers, but the doc has asked me to use OPKs until I get a positive - so away we go!

It's given me hope to see so many BFPs lately and I hope that we're all able to move on to PGAL soon!

    TTC since April, 2009
    BFP - December 31, 2009
18 week ultrasound showed BOY, but several complications. No heartbeat at 19w4d. Stillborn on April 21, 2010
Started seeing an RE December, 2010: 6 failed IUIs, 1 failed IVF
September, 2011: FET, transferred one 3-day embryo = BFP on our anniversary! 6w5d baby measured behind with a low heartbeat (84bpm). 7w5d no heartbeat, no baby in sac. D&C November, 2011.
    November, 2011 - March 2012: BREAK. Started gluten-free in February, 2012.
    March, 2012: FET, transferred one blast = BFP! Beta #1 = 240, Beta #2 = 550
  • I am so sorry for all of your losses. My heart goes out to all of you.

My name is Tiffany and I am 25. DH is also 25. Here's my story: I stopped taking BCP in Jan 2008, knowing we wanted to start trying for a baby after our wedding. In April, we found out we were pregnant and had our first natural miscarriage at 6wks. We got married on June 28, 2008 and got pregnant after one cycle. Isabel was born on her due date (4-14-09). It was a "by the book" pregnancy and delivery.

DH and I decided to start trying again and got pregnant in January. Again I miscarried naturally at 4 wks (I went to the dr early because we could not date the pregnancy). Again we waited one cycle and got pregnant. I went in for my 8 weeks check-up and could not find a heartbeat. Missed miscarriage resulting in natural miscarriage at 7wks.

We are going for our first RE appointment on Monday to see if we can figure out why this keeps happening.

  • great idea trisha!

(i know it was that night because it was the only time we had sex during that time frame since sex would hurt for me 70% of the time)  i got a bfp in Jan 2010 and MC on March 22nd 2010...I was 9 weeks and four days. We waited 3 cycles to TTC and here we are waiting for a sticky baby

  • These stories are all so heartbreaking.  I hope we have happy endings soon.

    Hi!  I'm Betsy, I'm 27 and DH is 29.
We started TTC in Feb. of 09 and got our BFP that first month.  I started bleeding less than a week later and was diagnosed with a chemical pregnancy.  We were told to wait 3 cycles to try again.
At the end of June, I got another BFP.  We had our first u/s in August, and it turned out to be a blighted ovum.  I opted to have a D&C because it wasn't budging after 2 weeks.  We were told to wait one cycle to TTC again.
We got our 3rd BFP over Thanksgiving break, 2009.  We saw a beautiful blob and a good hb in early December.  When I went back for my 11 week u/s, we found out the baby had died.  It was a missed m/c.  I had another D&C.
My OB told me that I only had to wait 1 cycle before trying again, but DH and I have been seeing an RE to find out what's wrong, so this is our first month TTC since then.  I'm in the 2ww right now, and honestly, they didn't find much wrong with me, so I see myself m/c again in the future.  They put me on Clomid to help create a better quality embryo.

I have a long, drawn out story of this in my blog (link in siggy,) but that's the gist of it.

This was a wonderful idea! I also like reading everyones stories and getting to know everyone a little better.

I'm 22 and my DH is 24. We got married in August '08 and have been TTC since August of '09. Without charting or opk's we got a BFP on January 16th. We had a m/c on February 6th @ 8 weeks. We've been actively trying since then, and I'm currently charting and using OPK's.

  • My name is Jen and I'm 38.  DH (36) have been married for 4 years and TTC #1 since Jan 2008.  After no success of pg on our own, we started seeing an RE in Jan 2009.  with MIF issues and my age, IUI was recommended.  See siggy for details but the 2nd IUI in October worked but sadly ended in m/c in December with a lovely D&C the week before Christmas.

We are currently starting our 4th IUI - started Gonal-F injections last night!  Hoping this is it or we will be moving to IVF.

  • My name is Melissa.  I am 27 years old.  DH and I started to TTC#1 in February 2005 when I was 22.  We were extremely blessed and became pregnant in April.  At my first u/s at 10w1d, it was discovered that the baby only measured 6w1d.  I was devastated.

I became pregnant again my first cycle after my missed m/c, and we were blessed with DS in April 2006.  I stupidly thought that I would never have another m/c.  My OB assured me after my first that it was a fluke, and the likehood of it happening again was low.

DH was gone a long for the majority of time between 2007-2009.  He came home for good March 2009, and we decided that we would TTC#2.  I got a BFP 3 weeks after DH got home.  Lucky us, right?  I thought it was life's way of coming full circle because I became pregnant almost to the day of my first pregnancy.  Well, life was just playing another trick on me because I m/c.

I became pregnant again in July and m/c.  I got my final BFP in September 2009.  I had my first u/s on October 30.  The baby only measured 5w5d.  The OB wanted to be sure that I didn't have my dates wrong, but I knew the outcome would not be good.  On November 6, my m/c was confirmed and I had a D&C.

I started to see an RE in February 2010.  All of my tests came back normal.  I was told that I basically have a 50/50 shot of m/c again.  Great odds, right?  He didn't do a SA because he didn't feel it was necessary, even though both of DH's brothers were told that they are infertile.  He said that I should just try on my own with no intervention.  I am currently 5DPO on cycle #4 since we started to TTC again after D&C, but I'm pretty certain that this month is out..  In all, however, we have been TTC#2 for 15 months with 3 m/c thrown in there during the first 6 months of TTC.  We recently relocated (DH is military), so I don't have access to my RE anymore.  I am going to try for a couple more months.  If we are not successful or have another m/c, then I think it will be time to see another RE and demand a different treatment plan.

  • Hi, Everyone - I'm Julie, trying for Baby #1 at a seriously advanced maternal age. DH and I got pregnant after TTC for five months and were overjoyed to be expecting in November. Internal ultrasounds showed a good strong heartbeat at 6 and 8 weeks, then at the NT scan ultrasound we were told there was no heartbeat and that the baby had stopped growing between 9 and 10 weeks. I opted for a D&E which was performed on April 30, 2010.

We did have genetic testing done, which showed that the baby was a little girl and that she had Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome.) The OB explained that sometimes this is compatible with life, sometimes not. She cleared us to try again after one cycle and right now I am still waiting, rather impatiently, on Aunt Flo. It's been a little over 6 weeks.

In TTC, we used a Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor. I found this very easy to use and it might have worked for us even sooner, but I was timing our BDs a little too late - waiting for true ovulation rather than going at it as soon as it showed high fertility. The first time we started early, I got my BFP and that's what we'll try to do again.

I am glad to be here and wish all of you (us!) the best of luck in getting seriously, stickily, take-home-baby-havin' knocked-up.

My TTC/TTCAL story is pretty much in my siggy, but here's the longer verson. . .

I'm 27 and DH is 26.  We were married in April of 2008 and began TTC in July of 2009.  I began charting right away and had pretty much textbook charts every month.  In February of this year, I went in for my annual exam and my OB ordered an SA for my DH.  A couple of weeks later we got our BFP (on March 1st).  A few days after that, we got DH's SA results, which weren't good.  Low(er) count, low motility, low morphology.  I had a natural mc on 3/23.  At my follow-up appointment with my OB, she referred us to an RE for another SA for DH and possible IUI.  We had our first consult with the RE in May and began testing right away.  All of my tests have come back normal, but SA #2 was pretty much the same as the first.  We just finished IUI cycle #1, and are moving on to IUI #2.  Hoping for better luck this time.

It's nice to get to "know" everyone here :)

Our IVF miracles arrived on 7/20/11 at 37 weeks after 3 weeks of hospital bedrest! Lilypie Second Birthday tickers "Stubbornly persist, and you will find that the limits of your stubbornness go well beyond the stubbornness of your limits." ~Robert Brault

It took awhile to get through everyone's stories, but I'm glad I did.  Thanks everyone for sharing.

I'm 27 and DH is 29.  We were married May 2008.  I went of BC April 2009, but as an egg donor, not to TTC.  I was in grad school and wanted to wait until I was done.  For our first anniversary, we went to Cancun and the condom failed.  If I had a typical O pattern, I would have O'ed just then, and I had a mini-freak out, but then decided we were ready whenever.  I was not KU, but we started to try officially to have a baby in the summer months (we started in August) when school would not be affected.  We stopped trying after October's cycle, and of course I got KU in Nov when we weren't trying.

I lost the first pregnancy at 5w4d.  I decided to screw the summer schedule idea and we tried again immediately.  I get KU again right away, but it was a CP and I lost it around 4 weeks.  I quit school, so timing was really no longer an issue, and AGAIN got KU right away, in Feb.  Found out April 1st (9w) that it was a missed m/c (lost at 6w), after days of spotting.  All of them passed without assistance.

RE appt showed nothing amiss.  My RE was also the person I worked with as an egg donor, and he is sure there are nothing but fabulous eggs in me...  we'll see.  We're on cycle 2 of TTCAL.

  • Hi, my name is Jen. I am 27 and DH is 30.  We got married in November 2008 and decided to TTC in April 2009.  I got a BFP in August of 2009.  Everything was GREAT.  I had a wonderful pregancy.  I went to the 28 week growth scan and everything looked great.  I went in 3 days later with blood pressure issues (i am a nurse at a drs office so I checked it all the time) and they sent me home after drawing labs(that was Fri).  I went in on Monday for a blood pressure check and there were no heartbeats.  It was the one of the worst days of my life.  So on my DH 30th birthday, I delivered my identical twin girls.  At the end of March we were given the go ahead to TTC again. We've been trying since then with no success.  I just don't get it.  We didn't even really try the first time.  No charting, no thinking about it.  Life sucks :-(
