So most of my extended family lives about 400 miles away and my mom is really pushing me to have the baby shower after the baby is born so they can all attend and actually see the baby. I'm due in August and everyone just visited in May for my college graduation, so it's very unlikely that they'll come down again just for a shower and then come again to see the baby. I'm not sure about having the shower after the baby though, because isn't the point of a shower to get things that need to prepare and be ready for the baby? We do already have most of the stuff we need, except for a carseat, bottles, and a few other small things, but still, I think if we have the shower after the baby we'll only get clothes! I don't know, I like the idea of everyone getting to see the baby, but I'm not sold on having the shower after the baby. Oh yeah, and my mother is not hosting, my friend is, but she said it's my choice on when to have it.

Re: Shower after the baby?
Lots of people host a "sip and see" or open house after baby is born. It's usually 2-4 weeks after LO gets here.
Totally your call on whether or not you want to do it.
We're in the same boat. All of my family lives out of state and my mom doesn't want to throw a shower without them being able to meet the baby. I understand her concerns since everybody will be traveling so far, so she is throwing me a meet the baby shower. It will be 3-4 weeks after the baby is born...a little sooner than I would like it, but oh well. There's still lots of little things that we need but I figured we could wait an extra few weeks.?
?I'm just going to be a very paranoid mom! Lots of hand sanitizer!??
