Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

I don't get why a lot of people don't like Carter's.

Their clothes wash and wear really well and are inexpensive. Ok so maybe a few other kids might have the same outfit. But seriously who cares. DD has some really pricey outfits and I freak when she gets food on them. Carter's stuff I really don't worry about. I heart Carter's.

  • I think some of the stuff is too 'cutesy' as DD is getting older, but for babies it can't be beat.  Love the baby pj's.

  • I love Carter's, too. Sure, I like the occasional "different" thing from a not so popular brand, but for every day, hanging around the house clothes, Carter's makes cute stuff. I also love their onesies a lot more than Gerber.

  • At the risk of sounding un-PC, the boy clothes are gay. I would never put my son in that pansy-a$$ crap.

The girl clothes are acceptable up to a point.

  • I like about 80% of the girl's stuff.  The boys not so much.
  • Meh, I think most of it is ugly.

For play clothes I like target better.

  • I love Carter's stuff! DD still wears onesies, especially when it's so hot here, so they are perfect for us.

    I <3 Carter's, especially their onesies.

  • Because it's cheesy and tacky after the age of 6 months, except for their pajamas.

I HATE all the cutesy sayings.

Then dont buy the cutesy sayings crap. I dont. She has a buttload of carter's stuff but its mostly animals or summer decorative stuff. Nothing with sayings on it. :) I get them all from Target though and not actually Carter's.

  • Their boy clothing is awful after about 9 months.  The sayings are stupid and boring.  The clothing is also super babyish in bigger sizes.  The only carters stuff DS has is PJs.

Now if someone was bashing Crazy 8's, Gap, or Target for boy clothing I would have something to say about that.

  • imagencbelle:
I loved Carters when kiddo was under 1, but I don't care for a lot of their older boys clothes so I stopped shopping there :-(

Same here. I love the under one stuff for boys, but I get tired of seeing my DSin something that says "Dirt Monster" or whatever. I do usually love all their girl stuff. So if we had (or have in the future) a girl, it would be much more of a staple.

Too cutesy for me, even the stuff without sayings.  Maybe if I had a girl, I would shop their more.  But the boy clothes are fug.

  • I like carters for the most part, but um...to me it's kind of expensive.  DD has loads of stuff from there, mainly from younger but she got a lot for her bday as well, and you can find just as great stuff for cheaper at other places.
  • I think the quality is great, but why they seem unable to just leave an outfit alone and HAVE TO add an animal or words.  Some of the girl stuff doesn't have that - cute rows of hearts or cupcakes are fine.

I like ON, find a lot of clearance stuff at Kohls (their sonoma brand has good plain striped shirts, and chaps stuff is finally affordable if you find it 80% off)), find some at Macy's, and I have a few cute amy coe outfits.  I rarely buy anything for DS that isn't at least 50% off, though.  I would rather have a LOT of cheap outfits than a few "nice" ones for him.  Means laundry less often for me!

  • First of all, I don't consider Carter's to be inexpensive.

Second, I don't mind their stuff, even for older kids. I don't shop there much, but I really like their pants/shorts for Leo.

I don't understand the hate for "cute" things. They're babies. It's ok if they look "cute." There will be plenty of time when they're teenagers to worry about them looking "pansy" Confused

  • I love Carters, but I can only get really good prices if I go to the outlets.  And I think about 50% or more of Brooke's summer wardrobe is from there and non of her outfits have sayings on them!

  • I love Carter's for girls' stuff, and they have good coupons and outlets. Not a fan for boys after age 1. It is pretty high quality for the price.
  • I love their stuff. Cute, comfy and affordable. Practical.

    Charming.

  • I didn't realize babyish clothing was so awful at age 1 plus.

Jo is 2. We're ok with having smiling ice cream cones on her shirt still.

When she's 11 I might switch this up but I start to snicker at the people who have cut off ages of 1 on babyish clothes.

  • I agree with those who have son's.  Their boy's clothes are horrible after 9 months.  I love their onesies & PJs, but their "play" clothes are really bad.  I prefer the plain stuff from either Old Navy or Jumping Beans, baby Gap is my splurge.

  • I hate their boy stuff. If I had a girl I'd MAYBE be able to get a few things. I think it's ok quality and all, I just don't like all the animals/baseballs/flowers/sayings on them. I usually shop at old navy or target for play clothes.

  • Don't like them.  I have an entire wardrobe with the tags on for DS.  Never put him in it once, except the fleece sleepers for bedtime.  I do use those and they are great.
  • I love their pajamas and loved their clothes for DD when she was a baby. Such good quality. I tend to get most of her stuff at kohl's and target for super cheap now though. I went in there the other day and I'm not sure why nothing appealed to me this time around.

  • The sleepers are fine, but other than that, the boy clothes are so horribly dorky. I couldn't put my boys in that stuff without feeling like I'd failed them somehow.
  • For infants, I love it.  My DD is 3 and I haven't bought her anything other than basics (leggings, etc) there in a long time.  DS is only 14 months, and I have not seen anything I want to put on him in there in a long time, either.  LOVE the Carter's white onesies.  Best!  But beyond that...eh, NMS.  I feel similarly about Gymboree, which most people love, though.

ITA.  I want DS to look babyish.  He is only 12mo old, he is a baby!  When DH dresses him he puts him in little muscle shirts and denim shorts.  When I dress him, he gets the seersucker sunsuit rompers with the dinosaur applique.  :)

I love Carter's... not all of it - the tshirt & cotton short sets for boys are kinda dorky and NMS - but a lot of it.  I think the prices are excellent for the quality.  Most of DS' sunsuits are Carter's.

  • I like Carter's.  I agree that it is good quality for the price, but I would also say I have never paid full price for it (always 50% off or more) ever.  It's always on sale somewhere and there is a Carter's outlet twenty minutes away.  I think it is cute/cutesy and I like that!  DD is 1.  I don't understand what is wrong with a 1 year old wearing cute clothes?!  Also, probably 10% or less of her Carter's ensemble has words on it.  Except for her pjs, those are chock full of words and sayings!  (Are words on pjs okay?  Just checking Wink )  I do also love, love, love Old Navy and Target.

    This.

I got most a big chunk of DD's summer wardrobe there during a sale, with a coupon and paid around $50 for a whole bunch of things - none of which have cutesy sayings on them.

I've been going back through all her smaller sizes to see what will work for baby #2 and her Carter's stuff has held up so much better than most.

You don't get how being called "so gay" and meaning something undesirable is a really stupid and hurtful thing to say?

  • I love their PJs, everything wears well.

It seems though from my shopping experience that the Carter Items sold in JCPennys/Taret are of different quality than what is found is say, their store.

    I like the JCPenny/Target ones.

  • I love their knits bc they're so soft.

I love their basics for boys. DS lives in their carpenter jeans and cargo shorts.

I love their cotton footed sleepers. I'm keeping DS in sleepers until he's potty trained, so I'm grateful they make them in toddler sizes.

I'm not to keen on their toddler boy shirts. (Oh yeah, I hate those short and shirt sets they make) They're just NMS.
