How'd ya'll meet your S/O?
Just curious. Any good stories? Mine isn't but since I'm asking.... My DH is a friend of my step-brothers. You have to know my bro, he threw himself a party at a bar for when he got off house arrest for driving on a suspended license. (Felt like I had to clarify so no one thinks he's a hardened criminal.) I went down by myself and actually DH and I recognized each other from meeting at my step-dad's funeral 6 months earlier. DH kind of flagged me down and I was so relieved to talk to someone since I didn't know a whole lot of people there. Anyway, we ended up talking the whole night, started dating after that and the rest is history!

We were both attending Brooks Institute to learn photography. We had some friends in common and were in the same class for a while.
I am not entirely sure how we started dating... lol. It just happened.

My husband's sister was my best friend from undergrad - we met through her, and when I married Will, she became my SIL.

We met in a super Kalssy bar in college. It was penny pitcher night.
He asked for my number but was too drunk to remember my name the next day. When he finally remembered, his fraternity brothers that we were out with us thought I was someone else (there were 4587396 chicks named Lindsey in my sorority at the time - they thought he was talking about a super crazy one) and told him not to call me.
It pissed me off.
Two weeks later we met again at the same bar. He asked for my number, I kindly told him he already had it and if he wanted to talk to me he could actually call. He kissed me right then and there. I wenthomewithhimthatnight so he didn't have to bother to call me the next morning.
We've been together ever since.
Hahah good one, so don't mind if I do....
I met SO on Match, actually. I'd been on there for a little over a year, meeting tons of guys, some were jerks, some were great - just not for me (or me not for them). I actually met one of my best friends on there....and got him hooked on Colombians - he's now engaged to one!
SO was on Match for a FULL WEEK before he met me.
It was one of those things that I had just about given up. I'm serious. Valentines Day was our first date, and from his profile, he totally wasn't my type, and I was just going to meet him for a quick drink and maybe an appetizer.
Go figure.
I was at a bar with some friends and semi on a date....It was after work and it was a BAD day so ya a good bit of drinking going on...
I step outside with my friend to have a smoke, and I was telling her how work is so much right now I didnt have time for laundry and showed her my mismatched socks. One tan and red thigh high argyle sock, the gother a knee high blue and green one...
A stranger at that time ...DH was behind us and said "those are some sexy socks."
Which started us talking, me making fun of his car, us actually wrestling and him hitting my head of a garbage can haha (all in good fun! I started it!)
Next thing I know I am telling my date to go home... =]

First football game of Junior year in HS I saw him at a football game and fell in love. Didn't know who he was or anything about him really. Dated around that year and all that.
His friend (who I didn't care for, who already had a girlfriend and who was a foot shorter than me) asked me to prom. I turned him down but told him I would love to go with his hot friend hee hee.
DH asked me to the prom the next day at lunch, had our first date that night and here we are 11 years later, best friends and so much more

We were meant to be friends with all this drunk/ sleeping with our hubs to meet them nonsense!
We played softball together for our church. Last game of the season (he'd been flirting with me all summer, though he denies it), he hit me with a ball--hard. I thought he might have broken my arm.
He called the next week to check on me, and the rest, as they say, is history.
I met my DH at a 4th of July block party. His friends family lived across the street from my aunt.
We went out on one date... didn't really "hit it off" but he worked out at the gym where I worked and I would see him out regularly and we would chat. Finally a year later he asked if I would be at that 4th of July party again and I told him I would. We have been together ever since... 11 years in July.
I did (conveniently) forget to mention we got shiit-faced drunk, and ended up back at his place, shagging all night. Oh well.
Long story short, I waited tables at IHOP and he quickly became a regular customer that requested to sit in my section. We exchanged numbers one night and the rest was history.
This is so embarrassing... We met on MySpace.
It wasn't intentional, like we were out to find a hookup. I was new to MySpace and didn't really know how it worked (this was in 2005). I was bored one night so I was checking to see who was online in my area. His profile was the first to come up, and we had really similar music tastes and he had a pic of him skateboarding in an area I used to skateboard.
So I IM'd him, asking what music he was listening to, and that was it. We chatted for four hours, met in person two days later, and have been inseparable ever since.
We were embarrassed to tell people we met on MySpace at first so we said we met in a CD store. After we'd been together a year we figured it was safe, so the truth came out.

I was dating his best friend
. My then-boyfriend and I were living together and he had invited my now-DH to come stay with us without even asking me, over Christmas no less. My ex was a real @sshat. We had several blow outs and eventually went our separate ways.
Months later I had computer issues and now-DH was able to fix my computer over the phone from half way around the country. We talked everynight for a month before we admitted we may have a thing for each other. We really didn't want to like each other because of how we met. But eventually I gave in.
I went out on 2 dates with my husband's ex-roommate. After the first date I wasn't interested so when the roommate called two weeks later for another date I didn't want to go, but I had nothing else to do. I met the roommate at their house and as we were leaving my husband came home and we exchanged hellos and that was it.
A year later I was at a hole-in the-wall bar called (of all things) Hillbilly Heaven! My husband ended up being there on a blind date with another girl. After about 20 mins. of talking to her, he came over and never left our table.
We went to high school together one year apart, and even had a lot of the same friends, but never knew one another. He was good friends with a guy that had a major crush on my best friend, so he hung out with my best friend a lot and I hung out with his friend a lot too. We were both friends with some guys in a band and both went to see them perform on a number of occasions. I guess fate just wasn't ready for he and I to meet then, because we somehow missed meeting each other that whole time.
Years after graduation we both happened to start working at a retail store together - he already had a degree in computer science but was between jobs, and I had left school and was trying to save up money to go back so it was just dumb luck we were both working at this place at the same time.

We met on match.com, but by accident on my part. I had done it before with fine luck (met a nice enough guy who eventually moved away) After that I started dating an on and/off again BF...it finally ENDED ended after 9 long years. I finally decided it was time to get my feet wet again, so I went on match adn at the same time filled out the e-harmony profile. Firgured I would start there. I just opened up my old match acct and started to update it (it was about 3 years old by this point) and filled out the survey at the same time. The e-Harmony survey comes back with "we're sorry, there are no matches in your area". I live in DC Metro, so I was like WTF I dont' need this! I closed the computer, mid way in filling out the match update. Little did I know I had activated it.
He messaged me and that's how I found out. I had to apologize for the old picture, adn the rest is history. The irony is I had already noticed him while updating my profile before e-harmony informed me of my loser status
