Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Stay in bed if you are tired!

DD is laying on the floor in front of me sleeping, in the living room.  However, she "woke up" at 5am. We let her cry (on and off w/ checks) until 5:45am in her room. I knew she was tired but she just kept crying and saying "up" "downstairs" and "all done."

So at 5:45 DH went and got her from her room. I got up at 7am and came down to the living room to find DD fast asleep. DH said she has been sleeping since they came down. It's now 8:23am and she is still asleep.

Why won't she do this in her bed??? I know she is tired when she first gets up in the morning (she wakes too early) but I swear she will cry for hours and hours and never fall back asleep in her bed.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get DD to stay in her bed in the morning when she is obviously tired?

Re: Stay in bed if you are tired!

  • DD used to this too sometimes. We used to bring her into ur bed so that we could all get some more sleep and it worked great. Now that she has a big girl bed (a twin sized bed, not the toddler bed anymore) that she absolutely loves, she insists on staying in there or begs to watch TV. She just started doing this again the past two nights actually. We make her stay in her room but last night DH stayed in there with her and they are both still asleep in her bed- its pretty cute! I dont know if its just a phase or what!
