Success after IF

Teething = eating less?

Anyone else have this issue? He has had a couple of bad teething days and it is hard for me to get him to drink his bottle. I think it makes his gums sore. He normally eats 4 - 8oz bottles but the past two days I am lucky if I can get 6oz in him before he screams and pushes the bottle away.

Should I be concerned? I am assuming he will go back to normal once he is past this rough patch.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or I am overlooking something.

A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Re: Teething = eating less?

  • We are dealing with the same thing. I have frozen some of his formula in ice trays and put it in his mesh feeder. He seems to like that sometimes.

    He will eat, and not starve, but just offer when you can. We have had some luck with Hyland's Teething strips. I have not tried the tabs because some have lactose or soy in them, and Lincoln can not have that. Nolan did not teethe like this, so this is new territory for us. He is miserable, and I feel so bad for him!

  • We definitely experienced that with bottles and teething.

    Elizabeth's up to 6 teeth now and I could almost always tell when one was about to break through because the daycare sheet would show that she only had 3-4 ounces of each bottle.

    I think it usually passed for us in 2-3 days...just about in time for the next tooth to start!

    After 20 months, 3 Clomid cycles and 4 IUI cycles, IVF #1 with ICSI = BFP!

  • They go hand in hand in our house.  I really think it has something to do with the excess saliva production.  DS seems to eat less and burp/spit up more than usual in the week or two prior to cutting a tooth.

    Yes. DS is breastfed, but when his bottom two teeth came in, he had a couple of days where nursing seemed to really bother him. He'd pop off and whine and stick his fingers in his mouth. Over and over and over. Even so, he always managed to nurse when he got hungry enough. And thankfully, his refusals to eat did not last long. Good luck -- I know how frustrating it can be!
    After 7 failed IUIs, IVF w/ ICSI worked!!

    I am thankful every day for my miracle after infertility.

    And thrilled to be pregnant again after FET!
