before you seen a doctor..

Did you ever have "good" days that made you think you were better and didnt need to see anyone?

Re: before you seen a doctor..

  • I didn't even know this board exsisted!

My story...IVF to get pg with my son, got PG on my own with my daughter.  She was born 7 weeks early and was in the Nic U for two weeks.  I think I just recently got over it, 2 years later.

I noticed your baby is one month old.  If you are not getting enough sleep everything will seem worse to you.  I recommend having someone help (if you can) and get some rest.  Then see how you feel.

    Hope you feel better soon!

  • yes i found that it sorta ebbed and flowed and there were certain things that could set it off.  i think the good days are what make people think everything is OK and they put off getting help.  you should have way more good days than bad days.
  • Sure, I think that's pretty common.

I know that I put off getting help because I'd have good days. Unfortunately, that meant things got pretty bad (a panic attack that lasted a good part of several days) before I got into see someone. I'd recommend NOT doing that--it's much easier to navigate this stuff if you seek treatment before a crisis point.

Plus, mental health professionals can often be difficult to get into and you don't want to be facing a few week wait when you want to see someone NOW.

Yup.  All the time.  I use to want to pick up the phone and call my doctor but couldn't bring myself to do it.  Then the next day would be a good day and I'd think, "see, you don't need any help."  The only reason why I started seeing someone was because one day I just picked up the phone and called my doctor and she saw me the same day.  If I would have had to make an appointment for a few days out I never would have kept it.
  • Yes! I'll have 2-3 really good days in a row and then things get bad again. It's gone on for far too long and finally 2 babies and 3 years later i'm getting help. Make your appointment today.
