Hey all you abbreviation junkies... Can you spell out the word maybe once per message (ie. cloth diapers then say cd the rest of the post) so that us newbies, when we do a search on info about cloth diapers..actually get some results? (Tried to do a search on cloth diapers, found very little, found lots of people use the term "CD" and CD is too short a term to do a search on and everything I've found has the term abbreviated.
So maybe not for not just cd's, but all the other words, if you think about it.. I find as a newbie I really can't discern half the messages since everyone is so abbreviated. (Found some posts on CD's and can't understand what everyone is talking about...AI2, PIP, EBF, etc). Someone even replied to check out the EFF board (didn't know what that meant.. looked alphabetically under "E".. nothing there... then later someone posted a link to the board and now I know it is "The Eco Friendly Family"... I had no idea!
Help us learn them. At least maybe when you reply to a "newbie" (as there is a little "newbie" next to the user name) Maybe use the real word once in your post, then use the abbv...then we can catch on. I'd really love to use the information provided on this board but it is so hard to figure it out that as a new mom, where else can I learn this stuff?
Thanks for helping us newbies!
Jessie
Re: You're making it difficult!!!
Is there something specific you are looking for?
This is never going to catch on, BTW (by the way).
If you'd asked a bit more nicely I might have been more inclined....
For real! The OP (original post) was SO bossy!
EDITED TO ADD: Here is a link to the ECO FRIENDLY FAMILY blog that might help you in your CLOTH DIAPER research. That was a PAIN IN THE @$$ to type out without abbrevs. Yeah, I said abbrevs.
wife to joe 2.2.08. mama to noah 9.5.09.

I agree with PP
But, just so you know...common abbreviations here
CD - Cloth diaper
OS - One Size
AIO - All in one
NB - New born
EUC - Excellent Used Condition
GUC - Good Used Condition
NIP - New in Package or Nurse in Public
GM - Goodmama
B4 - Bububebe
BG - Bumgenius
BB - Blueberry
FB - Fuzzi Bunz
I'm sure there are tons more but that's what I can think of right now. If there is anything specific you don't know we are more than happy to tell you what exactly it means.
OMG! LOL! ITA! I PPH EFFer speak!
BTW, i'm rarely snarky, i just couldn't resist. if there's an abbreviation you don't know and it's not in the glossary, just ask in the post where it appears, and someone will clue you in. GL!
Sorry, Pixy, but this should have said: um. okay?
NO ABBREVIATIONS.
Whatever, whatever! I do what I want!
Luvlie will be screwed.
lol tyvm ttfn kthxbai
oh crap, I just can't stop
OMG WTF BBQ
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm bbq
Does everyone think the sarcasm helps a new mom? It was just a legitimate suggestion that I thought would help others (not just me).
I'm sorry if the first post sounded snarky, I just was frustrated after spending hours and hours trying to read info on cloth diapers and finding very little... then when someone gives me the link to Enviro Friendly Family finally... (I had no idea what EFF meant) several days later, that I'm allowed to stumble on some info, yet it is still full of abbreviations. So I apologize if my frustration came out in my post... I've edited it to (hopefully) be more warm but to the point.
Being a new mom and trying to be as educated as possible is already a difficult task. Why would you take a newbie and shove their ignorance back in their face like that? People come on here for help and hopefully support.
If only the people that read this post stop and realize that there are a ton of us newbies that are trying to garner information and need that extra few seconds of typing rather than abbrv. everything. If it is *that* bad of an idea... ok... it was just an idea; don't you want to help rather than unleash tons of negatives on a new mom?
Where is this glossary all are referring to?
The frustration in my original post (OP, I guess?) was a result of doing that several times after trying to read them and nobody replying... even more frustrating. So now I have to wait for someone to feel like telling me to learn stuff.... What is ITA and PPH? I think I figured out the rest.

Simma down, newbie.
Congrats! You're a new mom! No stop using it as a crux and excuse. You came to an established board with guns blazing telling everyone to change their posting styles for *you*.
There are newbies who join all the time. They're welcomed, and when they ask what an abbreviation is, they're told. Some figure it out by context. You're the first one that has DEMANDED RIGHT NOW STOP USING ABBREVIATIONS. That is a sure fire way to get your butt handed to you.
Relax. Lurk. Then post when you think you have the jargon down.
ITA - I totally agree
PPH - pink puffy heart
OP - Original post or poster
Let me spell it out for you: No.
There is a glossary available, please feel free to use it. Objective reflection upon your original post will reveal great narcissism. You just asked a group of people with whom you don't participate to change the way they discuss topics, and you did so in a rather snotty fashion.
DENIED.
I'm not on many boards, actually. But ironically... the other one I am on I made a post like this and people replied with a ton of the common ones along with a ton of newbies replying big thank-yous for such a post since they were so confused (like me). I didn't get nearly the negative and sarcastic reply I got here...https://www.petgroomerforums.com/chat/showthread.php?28425-I-need-your-abbreviations...&highlight=abbreviations
What makes it difficult is this: when I ask some questions, people say I should do a search on a topic. But if everyone in the posts uses the term CD and not one person uses the word cloth diapers, the search results are missing a huge lump of information that could be useful.
Again, I guess I just don't understand taking someone's ignorance and making fun of it and replying the way a lot of you did. I've already got enough hormonal ick going on!
For those of you who replied with info and some of the abbreviations for me, thank you, for the rest of you...Really?!
BTW, I never demanded... I gave people something to think about that they might not have previously. Why would there be such a huge resistance to making it easier to search for info? That's the thing I can't fathom. I've been "lurking" since I was on theknot.com... and have been on here mostly reading for the last 9 months... it only occurred to me in the search to go cloth that a lot of the terms (a lot about cloth diapers not in the glossary, I've just realized) that are abbreviated in there would make it easier to learn.
Why so defensive to use the full term just one time per post and then abbreviate it... it sounded like a useful and helpful suggestion... I know I'm not the only one who learns nothing from a post since its full of three letter acronyms.
Let me spell it out for you, since you like that:
You were r-u-d-e in your request. Flagrantly rude. Obnoxiously rude.
I do try to do some of the CD's spelled out when I'm answering newbie CD questions, but I may forget sometimes. I will say - if I see anewbie actually post a question about an abbreviation, I will answer, and most others do, too. Not everyone has time to always do it, but usually people pick it up.
If I read the edited OP and not the original... yeah - you came off way snarky for someone who hasn't been around. If you ever have a question - make your own post for the definition - most often someone will respond to those. There have been newbies in the past to ask, and generally they try to do it a bit politer.. they usually get better responses.
And papagena's definition of the day is:
JT = Juicy Toots - type of diaper but in EFFer speak, means SS, or special snowflake. (used in polls to indicate that none of the other options fit you - all EFFers must know polling abbreviations)
...and you're welcome.
As posted above if you ask what something means someone will respond almost right away. I had the same problem when I first come over here and everyone was very nice when I ask what an abbrv was.
I don't think ppl take the time to look and see if someone is a newbie so just ask. It may take a min or two for someone to respond but someone will.
It really is a great bunch of ladies over here and they all have a world of knowledge and are great ppl to talk to if you need to vent.
I came over just looking for info on CDs and I'm still here because I love these ladies.
The glossary is to the left on the bottom under My boards.
If you cannot find something just ask before you spend hours searching.
Honestly if you asked a question here I doubt anyone would tell you to search because we all know the search feature sucks! Plus we love talking about diapers so we're always happy to share. Please do stick around. We're a great group of ladies who happened to get riled up because your tone did not come through well at all in the original post. (And telling us to lighten up doesn't help your point!)

YWIA. (That one is from the knot, you betta know it!)
This coming from a newb (to this board) who has had no problems with figuring out the acronyms/abbreviations.
All it takes is a bit of time to lurk and common sense. Sorry if you lack one or the other.
Deal!!
I'm don't want to mess with you ladies!! Ouch!
Just help us!
Jessie
So do you feel good about comparing your strength to my weakness?
The point is that we don't HAVE to help you if we don't want to. You are making it very hard for people to WANT to help you.
And with that, I am done.
I don't know it - wasn't really a knottie... So....???? oh - never mind. figured it out.
If anyone asks a question, new or old, we usually do our best to answer it because we know the search function sucks big hairy monkey balls.
You were rude. WTF did you expect? And sorry honey, but hormones are not an excuse for rude behavior.
Really?! Really?!
You were rude and obnoxious. No you didn't come out right and say "Do this now" but you pretty much managed to piss off and insult a board that is relatively drama free and VERY helpful.
So, how about this. LURK for a few days. Get to know the tone of the board. See if any of your questions get asked and answered. After that if you have questions feel free to ask and we will help.
But if you come slinging crap and biatching about how unhelpful and difficult we are making it...chances are you will get a similar response to the one you got today.
I agree, let's start over. You'll be nice and we'll be nice
The abbreviations you used in your edited post
CD - cloth diaper
AI2 - All in two (similar to an AIO but I believe has a snap in liner for quicker drying)
PIP - Picture In Post
EBF - exclusively breast fed
And fwiw, using the search function will get you no where. It rarely works, and when it does, it doesn't work well.
It's quicker and easier to ask us questions you have outright. We love answering the questions, even if they get asked a million times. (except ones about gdiapers. lol...I have begun to hate those questions, but only because of the issues on the board from them)
ITA (I totally agree).
Oh, and I've got the gdiaper thread saved so I just post that when there's a question.

For What it's Worth
Interesting...you were giving info and links yesterday on another board. Sadly you chose not to listen/read and instead decided to be a douche over here. As you can see, they linked the same blog we did. It tends to be a pretty fabulous blog.

lol, i didn't realize I did that
