Ever had a naturally-ending anovulatory cycle?

I'm currently on CD 45 on my first cycle off the pill. I was on the pill for 15 years.  O is nowhere in sight, and there's no reason for me to POAS (see chart - that big hill in the middle was when I was temping on a vacation 3 timezones away).   I've started to think this might be an anovulatory cycle (although I know I'm not totally out of the O game yet).

I'm terrified that I'm not going to know when my period starts, and I'm going to have a 15-year-old-style period accident where I bleed all over my clothes.  Since I've been on the pill so long, I honestly don't know what to look for before a period - I'd always just put a tampon in right before my period started, and it would start like clockwork at the same time every cycle.

If you've had a natural (without Provera) anovulatory cycle, did you know your period was coming?  Or, did it just sneak up on you?  If you knew it was coming, what were your symptoms?   I know you can tell if AF is on the way by a temp drop, but I guess that won't happen in an anovulatory cycle...right?

    it just sneaks up on you :( 

    however, i normally start spotting/cramping at some point in time so that's a good indication...

    I have the same spotting before a period in an anovulatory cycle that I do in a "regular" cycle.  My periods don't seem to ever get as heavy in an anovulatory cycle.  However, my anovulatory cycles are most likely linked to my hypothyroidism, so my experience may not be typical.

    Mine always start the same, even the annovulatory ones (which were around 45-50 days)  It started with spotting and then full blown period, so there was still a warning it was coming. .

    I'll echo PPs to say that I get cramping a day or two before AF shows regardless of whether the cycle is ovulatory or not.

    Yep, my tip off was the spotting more than anything else. First just when I wiped, then on a liner, then full blown period.

    Thanks ladies.  You'd think I'd know what to look for, since I'm TWENTY NINE.  Oh well.  I just hope I spot a bit first!

    I've been off BCP's since last June, and I'm thinking that I'm having an anovulatory cycle just now - no clear thermal shift, random patches of CM in varying degrees of fertility, cervix movement from firm to soft and high to firm and low again, then high once more, etc., etc.  Plus, I'm on CD 44 and nothing.

    I guess we'll just have to wait for our AF's to sneak up on us whenever she darn well pleases! Sad

    I'm annovulatory but my cycle is surprisingly regular anyway.

    Spotting & cramping are my two non-date signs. Carry tampons in your purse and remember to go to the bathroom to check every couple of hours. Usually the only misses for me are while I'm sleeping- I can pay attention well enough to not be surprised during the day any more.

    Started BCP and Metformin (New!) 12-14 for stimming in January
