I am glad that people will correctly assume the genders of your children, but will there be 80 billion children out there with the same name...YEP!
You are all certainly entitled to your opinion!
Bottom Line...I think of Parker and Mason as boys names...Do I think that they are perfect for little girls as well...ABSOLUTELY!
I don't think you realize that you are contradicting yourself: her son is named MASON. So, if you're saying there will be 80 billion other children out there with the same name, then that doesn't make it very unique (according to you), does it?

Masyn is SO much more unique than Mason. No one would ever connect Mason and Masyn!!! Masyn is so speshull.
Freighdym and Justyce??? You don't think people would judge those???

For a teacher you really are judgmental. I guess if a child with the name Masyn showed up in your class, you would have disparaging remarks about their parents because they are "uneducated". Or, even worse, you would probably shun the student as to not be associated with such a uneducated family.
My DH and I actually had this on our list for a girl, we would have spelled it Masyn. I love it! We also have a DD named Camrynn, I am a big fan of unisex names.
Sticking a "y" in Mason does not make it a unisex name.

Three possible responses from me:
1. For a non-teacher, you are really judgmental.
2. Right, because most adults don't know the difference between a message board and real life.

Yep, it is the kids fault that the parent is 100% idiot who thought they were naming a cat or a Cabbage Patch Kid.
What would you do if your child grew up to name their child a common name with an uncommon spelling? I'm not trying to argue with you, but would you in turn think your child is uneducated because of what she/he and her/his spouse chose to name their child?
I did not say that Camrynn was unique or different...I was simply stating that I liked unisexd names for girls. I was saying that I thought Masyn for a girl was different and unique.
I do realize that not everyone will agree with me, but I do think that labeling a name as low class and trashy is ignorant.
I don't think you know what the meaning of this word truly is.

Same thing I would do if I raised a kid who couldn't figure out how to use the quote button. Make fun of them for their idiocy.

It won't change my opinion of them at all but I will probably vomit in my mouth a little.

I would give them a copy of Freakonomics and seriously question what the hell is he/she thinking. And like pp said, I'd probably throw up in my mouth as well.
And I commend you for serving this country, but that doesn't change my opinion on the spelling of your child's name (or any future children you have).

Look, I did the same thing you did. I took a common name/word and spelled it differently. If that makes me low class and trashy, then it makes you low class and trashy too!

Look, you can name your child anything you want to (hell I know I did) but you got to understand that some people is not going to agree with your choices. Everyone is going to have a opinion.....take it and go on!
This is excellent advice.
When you have 20-something posts and they are all involved in some kind of stupid fight over your right to misspell names, it is time to lurk a bit more or GBCB.

She is not actually naming her children Freighdom and Justyce (or any other spelling of it). It is a joke.
Re: Mason for a girl?
I don't think you realize that you are contradicting yourself: her son is named MASON. So, if you're saying there will be 80 billion other children out there with the same name, then that doesn't make it very unique (according to you), does it?
Not if you spell it right...it is Justyce' not Justyce. Justyce is hideous.
Camrynn is in no way a special name. Madison is Madycyn is Madicinne is Maddycynne.
Masyn is SO much more unique than Mason. No one would ever connect Mason and Masyn!!! Masyn is so speshull.
I am concerned though that lilm isn't really exploring more y's....
FWIW, I think Parker is a horrible girls name.
I would suggest something more girly.... Parkerina maybe? Parklia? Ooh, Parkelyna!!! LOVE IT!
I kind of agree here. And maybe instead of Freighdym, spelling it Phrydym? I like the gh in the original though. Dang.
I am not saying that the name "Mason" is unique. I am saying that the spelling "Masyn" is unique. If you don't agree...I don't care.
To each is own!
Please feel free to judge me...I could careless. I have served my country and fought for my right to name my child ANYTHING I want!
This part makes this my favorite post of the week. YAY!
Masyn isn't unique, it makes the parent look uneducated.
Could you really CARE LESS? Could you? Go ahead and care less.
And PPC - Ooh, I do like the "Ph" idea though... Hmmm.... Might have to consult the name gods on this one.
Pyrfyct!
I particularly love, To each is own!
are you against Freighdym and Justyce?
How dare us call her unedjumacated?
Ditto

3. YOU DON"T KNOW HER.
Yep, it is the kids fault that the parent is 100% idiot who thought they were naming a cat or a Cabbage Patch Kid.
Did you do it for the college tuition or the signing bonus?
Oh. Oh. I just don't know what to say.
No, you fought for the right to name your kid Camrynn. There is a right worth fighting for.
I don't think you know what the meaning of this word truly is.

Happy, Judgment Queen?

Very, Miss 4th of July!
Let me go one step further and add that it doesn't change the blatant stupidity that may or may not be present in any of your future posts.
In case you haven't figured it out yet... LilM's siggy is making fun of people like you.
Not people who have served our country, because for that- we are truly grateful.
But- for people who decide to stick y's in places that they don't belong because that somehow equates to youneekness.
I'm just so thankful my parents stuck with "Juliet" instead of "Juleeyet"....
Look, I did the same thing you did. I took a common name/word and spelled it differently. If that makes me low class and trashy, then it makes you low class and trashy too!

Talk about missing the point...
Thank you!
