Why don't people just register?! Gift ideas for baby shower!

My cousin's shower is this weekend (my mom is hosting).  The baby's father will not be in the picture (long, complicated story).  Anyway, she needs a lot of stuff.  I'm giving her DD's bassinet and swing since we're not using it anymore.  I also have a bunch of diapers left over from when we switched sizes/brands etc. (still in its box).

I was thinking about putting together a basket for her.  The problem is that since she didn't register, I know she's going to get a lot of repeat things (blankets, burp cloths, clothes, bath stuff, etc.)

So what should I put in it? I'm definitely adding the homedics sound machine (spreading the love lol).  Any other ideas?

Or is there something that you think most people won't get that I could give her?

    If she plans on BFing, no one will probably get her nursing pads and lansinoh cream.

    Oh, and if she is FF, how about those formula containers (like Munchkin) that hold 3 feedings worth of formula. I love those.

    Solid food feeding supplies (spoons, bowls) sippy cups, baby wipes, diaper rash cream, baby sunscreen.

    If she plans on BF, I would throw in a tube of the Medela nipple cream. That stuff went on SO much better than all the other kinds!

    I think get the necessitites...if she didnt register then she will get tons of blankets and outfits.  People like to buy cute!  I almost always buy diapers and wipes (which may be something others will buy) mylicon, tylenol, nasal mist, motrim, and something favorite of yours and you lo's...which is your sound machine!

    Mesh feeders. I was going to say gas drops and teething stuff too. A formula divider if she's FFing just because I don't think I would have even realized they existed if I hadn't been given one.

    You could always throw in a pack of plain white onesies. I couldn't get enough of those at first. I didn't have the energy to dress DD up in those pretty outfits.

    when someone doesnt register i just make them a basket of stuff I wish someone gave me. (if they get repeat stuff...thats what they get for not registering! just include a gift receipt)

     and you could include a gift cert to a resturant that delivers by them so they can order in, or a massage gift cert etc.

    (and i have size 1 diapers that LO grew out of before we could use them so I usually line the basket with those)
