Anyone's child terrified?
We started watching Elmo's potty time today because he is terrified. Loves the movie, but still wants absolutely nothing to do with the potty.
I am not going to force him. But is there anything I could do to passively ease him into it?
eta: He has a little potty that he uses as a chair for his drum set... Yea we lost on that one too lol
Re: Potty Learning
my DS was terrified of the big potty and we made it in baby, baby steps. i'm talking oh wow, you sat on the little potty in your clothes, let's throw a big party.
i agree though...definitely don't push him. listen to your instincts about how you can help him overcome that fear.
Big E (6) & Little E (2.5)
Bruce was only scared to go poop on the potty but we just left it out all.the.time (it was in our living room on a waterproof pad...) and eventually he got more comfortable with being on it. We talked a lot about how everyone goes on the potty and they do pee AND poop, especially his older cousins that he totally idolizes. He would pee on it regularly and almost never have wet diapers, he would just use them for pooping in. He really did not want to poop sitting down for some reason it seemed.
Then when the time came and he started to want to wear underpants like a big boy we let him poop in them a couple times and he HATED the clean up. He had to go in the bath to get rinsed off with the shower attachment becuase he would get smeared with poop when we took his pants off and he really hated that so after 3 times or so I said "If you pooped on the potty you wouldn't have to get rinsed off in the shower" and something clicked and he just started going on there.
He does. I even show him Caedan's potty/Mommy's potty by opening and closing the mini lid.
