Trouble TTC

"Hairy" question

Okay ladies...I'm getting comfy on here...so here goes.  I have these odd ball hairs that are growing out of my chin!  WTH???  I've also got one very annoying hair that has started to grow on the side of my neck out of a mole.  AND to top it off...the very fine normally lmost unsceen blonde hair I have above my upper lip is turning dark!  I've just been plucking...I've heard waxing is painful.  Am I the only one who this is happening too???  Please tell me it's the meds.

Re: "Hairy" question

  • I've got pcos, but thankfully no hair issues from it.  It's very possible it's the pcos flaring up now that you're ttc and off bc.  Often bcp keep the pcos symptoms under control.  Gotta love pcos!

Have you heard of soulcysters.com.  It's all about pcos, they might have some info and tips about hair.

    Good luck!

  • Hold on are you plucking your upper lips hair? Hum I will admit I have upper lip hair that I have to wax. But to pluck them is like hum OUCH! I give you kudos for plucking them.

  • I get thick black hairs on my chin. I pluck those. I use something like this on my upper lip hair:

  • I have a couple of black, coarse hairs that I have to pluck every other week or so.  My dr. said it was a sign/symptom of PCOS.

I noticed you're doing IVF this month.  Have/are you taking Lupron?  I had a friend that was on it and within a month she noticed more facial hair in the chin and upper lip region.  She has since stopped taking it and the side effects went away.

  • Just to throw in another point of view here...

I have always had some black hairs on my chin, upper lip and randomly around my body. I'm talking since I was like 18. Gotta love waxing!

I don't have PCOS. For many women, it's just genetics! From what I've heard it's pretty common too, especially for women of Mediterranean descent.

I like to throw this out there because I know many women feel like something must be wrong to have these socially unacceptable hairy spots, but in reality it can happen to anyone. :)

  • I do not have PCOS and I noticed a single black hair on my chin well before starting any IF meds.  I have a scar on the bottom of my chin and it grows out of that.  I hate it.

  • I've always had a little bit of hair above my lip. I think it's horrible, but DH never notices. I always wax myself, I don't find it that painful, I find tweezing the odd stray hair more painful.

  • I have always had upper lip hair that I have waxed.  However, now I also have chin hairs and some further down my neck.  It's disgusting and so embarrassing.  I do laser hair removal in hopes they won't ever come back.  I do believe all my fertility treatments have attributed to this getting worse.

  • Isn't PCOS glorious? Yes, my normally fine and blonde facial hair has taken a turn since I went off the Pill.  I would bleach before plucking or waxing.

  • One of the lovely side effects of PCOS for me.I had some electrolysis done a while back, and that kept it at bay until I went off the pill.  Now I pluck just about every day.
