  • I said no, but I think it also depends on the age and mindset of that child.

For example I was in the room when my mom had my brother. However, I was 17 years old at the time. Yes I know big age gap, he was a big oops, lol.

Ds will be 20 months when his little brother or sister is born this October and he will not be in the room. He will however come see baby after things have calmed down and we are in our room.

  • Typically I'm not a fan, but if it comes down to the father having to miss the birth because there is no other childcare available, I can see exceptions being made.
  • I said yes. However, it really depends on the kid. If they are of school age then I think that it is fine. I would also make sure that they were standing/sitting where they did not have a direct view of the vagina.

  • I don't have any other children however I feel like older children who can actually choose to be in the room should be asked and can be allowed if they want but, little children ages 10 and under should not be allowed.
  • I said no.  There is a lot going on, machines, people, stirrups, pushing, and let's face it, it's a little gross.  Yes wonderful and beautiful miracle of life, but a little gross too.

I think it would be really overwhelming and scary for a child to watch their mom go through it.

  • I don't have an issue with it, but I wouldn't want DD with me, at her age.  I'd be too worried about her & completely distracted.

  • I said No Way for my daughter. She is way too young and I don't think it would be a good experience for her. She was in the room for my internal a few weeks ago and still talks about "the Dr putting a light on mommy's butt". She wouldn't get it and the blood would probably scare her.

  • The reason I voted "sure" is my SD who is 13 going to be almost 14 when I deliver wants to be there.  Will she get to see my deliver probably not, but will it hurt her to see me in the labor process...nope.  Good birth control I figure...LOL :P  I'm having twins and my OB already told me we will be delivering in the OR.  Plus depending on how they are laying I might need a C-section, too.

  • I voted SS.  Would I have my kid in the delivery room.  Heck no.  However, if you had a older child who was really interested, I might consider it.

  • DD would be heartbroken if she saw me in that much pain. She comes with me to doctors appointments but she will not be in the delivery room.
