Hi Ladies,
My last few girlfriends that have given birth had a 38 week u/s. It seems that the weight given at the u/s was high by a 1/2 lb - 1 lb compared to the LO's weight at birth.
I know every pregnancy is different, but will you share your experiences please? The u/s tech told me my LO was measuring 8.5 lbs and I still have (possibly) a week and a half. My girlie parts are freaked out!! ![]()
Thanks in advance...
Re: U/S weight vs. birth weight
u/s at 38.2 weeks said 8 pounds give or take 10%
She was born at 38.5 weeks weighing 7 pounds 13 pounds.
38 weeks the ultrasound said 6lbs... 2 days later I gave birth to an 8lb 4oz baby!!
BTW, the size of the baby won't be the hard part of labor, its the contractions :P IMO birth is the EASY part... The hard part is the sleep deprivation for the next 12 weeksish
hehe

38 week u/s estimated a weight of 7 lbs 2 oz
Born a week later at 7 lbs 12 oz - so it was right on if you assume the 1/2 pound of weight gain per week at the end of pregnancy.
Landon weighed that!! I put one of his preemie outfits on top of him today and they only reached to his knees! He used to swim in preemies!!!
at 39 wks 2 days the estimate was 9lbs or over
birth weight 3 days later 8 lbs 3 oz.

I had an ultrasound at 40 weeks, and LO was estimated to be 9 lb, 9 oz. They tech told me that might be a little high. Exactly one week later, I had my 10 lb, 6 oz baby, lol!
They told me 7.5 lbs based on palpation. He was only 6lbs 1 oz at birth. I had to run out and buy newborn clothes and diapers because I was unprepared. They were definitely off by 1.5 in my cases.
Midwife's palpation and growth u/s at 37 weeks estimated 8 lbs. He was born at 38 weeks weighing 7lbs 15 oz...so they were pretty close.
