Pocket diaper repelling question

Is repelling typically a problem with the insert or the pocket itself?  We have some FBs that we bought used, so DS has only worm the a couple of times.  They are repelling now, and I don't know if I should try to boil the inserts or strip the pockets or both.  We have some BG pockets and prefolds that we bought new.  The BG seem fine, but we don't use them much.  The prefolds smell a little when they are wet.  Am I using too much detergent?

Re: Pocket diaper repelling question

  • If they're truly repelling that's generally a problem with the pocket - meaning that the pee can't get through the pocket to the insert.  You would know that if the inserts were dry after wear.  If the inserts are soaked then it's probably not repelling - more than likely you just need to add absorbency.
