  • What do you do for work? Assistant State's Attorney

Are you the breadwinner in your house? Only until DH finishes his residency.

If you could financially SAH, would you? Nope.  Love my job.  But part time hours would be nice.

  • What do you do for work? Social Worker at the Department of Veterans Affairs

Are you the breadwinner in your house? Yes, DH is a full time graduate student.

If you could financially SAH, would you? Nope.  I have worked hard to be where I am professionally, I enjoy supporting the family, and (honestly) DH's personality is more suited to SAH.  He might be the one to go back part-time after school is done.

  •   What do you do for work? I work full time at an airport in the admin portion.  Are you the breadwinner in your house? I used to be, but then my DH got a better-paying job. If you could financially SAH, would you? I will be a SAHM once New baby comes along.  It is less because I want to be a SAHM and more because I cannot stand my job.  I will be job searching while SAH.
  • What do you do for work? FT in IT for state govt.

Are you the breadwinner in your house? Nope, he is about 20,000 above me

If you could financially SAH, would you? Yes.  Ideally I would love to work 2-3 days a week but can't find a job where doing that and paying for daycare makes sense!

  • What do you do for work? Reporting Analyst for a bank

Are you the breadwinner in your house? No, DH and I make about the same salary, but he gets a car allowance on top of his.

If you could financially SAH, would you? I wouldn't mind trying it!  I really think I would go crazy, though.  Part time would be ideal, and I hope to get there someday...

  • What do you do for work? full-time administrative assistant

Are you the breadwinner in your house? Yep

If you could financially SAH, would you? No, I would work part-time. I was home until DD was 7 months and I would rather work part-time

  • What do you do for work? administrative director for a healthcare system

Are you the breadwinner in your house? No

If you could financially SAH, would you? No. I really enjoy my job and my co-workers and find it very rewarding.

  • What do you do for work? Counselor at a university

Are you the breadwinner in your house? Currently yes.  But DH just got a job, so hopefully not for long!  (My paycheck is not breadwinning material! Stick out tongue)

If you could financially SAH, would you? Maybe for a year or work part time.  I'd still put the kids in parents day out or preschool for a day or two though.

  • What do you do for work? Full Time Medical Writer

Are you the breadwinner in your house? Yes, I make almost double of DH's salary

If you could financially SAH, would you? No. I could never be home full-time, it just isn't for me. I love my company, job, schedule, benefits and the flexibility. I wouldn't mind going part time after I have #2. Being a working mum makes me a better mummy. I love the adult interaction, using my skills and knowing that my DD is at a great daycare at my company.

  • What do you do for work? Aerospace Engineer for the Space Program

Are you the breadwinner in your house? We make pretty much the same, DH makes a little more

If you could financially SAH, would you? No, I absolutely love my job and my coworkers and DS loves daycare.
  • What do you do for work? Engineer

Are you the breadwinner in your house? No, but it is close

If you could financially SAH, would you? No. I enjoy my job and the life that DH and I are able to provide for our family by both working. I have a proposal on the table at work to work 4 days a week the majority of the year and to work 5 days a week for our 14 week busy season. If they go for it great, if not fine.

  • What do you do for work? Department Director in a Hospital

Are you the breadwinner in your house? DH makes more salary-wise, but I get bonuses... after my bonuses, I make more!

If you could financially SAH, would you? Not full time.  I'd work part time or less, and then SAH PT.  I love my Daycare center/Preschool.  My boys learn SO much there and have SO MUCH FUN...  no way I'd take them out!

  • What do you do for work? IT Sr Manager for Big 4 public accounting firm

Are you the breadwinner in your house? I make the higher income but we couldn't live on my income alone.

If you could financially SAH, would you? I would have no problem giving up this job and would love to either find a part time "job" that is really just something I enjoy doing or spend my time volunteering or something like that.  But I do not want to be a SAHM.

  • What do you do for work? research scientist

Are you the breadwinner in your house? Yes

If you could financially SAH, would you? Sure, since in our case it would mean we've become independently wealthy.  My butt is retiring when eligible and financially feasible (got a long, long time), although I suppose I might try and do limited part-time for fun since I like what I do.

  • i teach

    no not the breadwinner

only if i did not have to depend on dh's salary/benefits---meaning i could survive on my own with my kids would i sah

  • What do you do for work? Info Security Manager

Are you the breadwinner in your house? No.  We started out the same (met at work) but DH has stayed in the more demanding field while I took a position with better work/life balance.  He now makes about 20% more than I do.

If you could financially SAH, would you? I used to think I would, but I think I'd get too bored, and DD really benefits from daycare.  Work is more stimulating for me, and daycare is more stimulating for DD.  I do work from home which makes the balance MUCH easier.  I don't have to get dressed up or commute, and I have a few minutes to throw in a load of laundry or empty the dishwasher while I heat up lunch.

  • Attorney

Not the breadwinner, but I make 3/4's of what DH makes, so we're not too far off.

I'd love to give SAH a try.  I've been an atty. for 10 years now and I feel like I've worked hard, built my career and now I'm kind of over it.  I love my job and I'm proud of everything I've achieved, but I'd like to devote more time to my child (hopefully children if we have another).  I think it would be a hard transition, but I'd love to try it and I figure I could find some kind of job if it didn't work out (meaning I wasn't happy, financially I think we'd be ok).

  • What do you do for work? full time accountant

Are you the breadwinner in your house? Yep but wish I wasn't!

If you could financially SAH, would you? Yep, would love to!  I would probably have to do some sort of work from home though.

What do you do for work? part time HR Manager

Are you the breadwinner in your house? Used to be when I worked FT, not anymore.

If you could financially SAH, would you? No. I could never be home full-time, it just isn't for me.

What do you do for work? Registered CT Tech

Are you the breadwinner in your house? Yes.

If you could financiually SAH, would you? Nope. I need that adult interaction. I wish I could pick and choose more when I wanted to actually go to work, but right now we do not have a choice.

  • What do you do for work- Registered Nurse

Are you the breadwinner of the hourse- Yes

If you could financially SAH, would you?- No, I would rather be a school nurse than a hospital nurse though. But I make more at the hospital

  • What do you do for work? Doc in a Peds ER

Are you the breadwinner in your house? I make a lot more than DH, but he has a PhD in industry and his salary isn't small potatoes.

If you could financially SAH, would you? No.

  • What do you do for work? nonprofit development director

Are you the breadwinner in your house? I used to be, then DH caught up and this year finally surpassed my salary.  His salary will likely stay a lot higher than mine as long as we have young kiddos since I won't be going after big opportunities for advancement that would mean longer hours, etc.

If you could financially SAH, would you? I have the best of both worlds.  I work from home full-time and have the kids at home with me with a nanny.  I love this!  I need the stimulation of a job, but I would be so sad to miss out on seeing my LOs all day.  This is perfect for me.
