2 kids in a 2 bedroom house

I'm not pg yet with #2, but I'm having some worries about having 2 kids in a 2 bedroom house (condo, actually).  I know LO #2 will be in a bassinet in our room for a while, but I'm interested in hearing from other moms who have 2 kids sharing a room.  How did it work for you?

TIA

Re: 2 kids in a 2 bedroom house

  • WHen this baby is born, we will still be in our 2 bed condo, we have a huge walk in closet in our room that we are converting into a nursery as a temporary fix until we find a three bedroom or bigger.

It is not Ideal but since we are renting and it is affordable we are making do.  We do not want the kids sharing a room till the baby is sleeping through the night so it doesn't screw with DD's schedule.

  • We are in a 2 bedroom right now, but we have plans to move within a year. DS will be in our room for however long, and then we'll move him into our huge walk-in closet when he's bigger.

Glad to know I am not the only one putting our kid in the closet LOL...I felt awful about it at first but hey you have to do what you have to do :)

  • We'll have #2 in about 7wks and he will be sharing a room with DD once he sttn. I plan to keep him next to my side of the bed until he outgrowns the bassinet/pnp (around 3mos I hope) and then put him in his crib in our room until that happens. I'll do Ferber around 7mos if he hasn't sttn on his own by then and then go into DD's room (she'll be about 2.5yo).

I figure by the time DS is 7ish months old, DD will be quite used to his cries/sounds (and he hers, right?!) so they should be okay sharing at that point.

  • We rent currently a two bedroom condo/apt and it's a little tight on space.  They have shared a room from day 1 and it's worked itself out over time.  DD#2 is an excellent sleeper and not much would wake her.  I still got up in the middle of the night to nurse the first few months.  Sometimes DD#1 would wake but went to bed when her sister did.  I just hate the clutter of all the toys most days but alas we'll do this for one more year.

I know, it sounds bad when I say it out loud, but you're right, you do what you have to do!
