Success after IF

How much did your LO weigh when they started STTN?

I'm just wondering and from doing a bunch of reading I'm not 100% sure weight matters a lot, but I do believe it is a factor.

Samantha slept 5 and a half hours straight last night, which is certainly a record for her.  nate, however, who on occasion has slept up to five hours, has been getting up every three hours for the past few nights.

TIA

  • DS was about 10 pounds, but I don't believe there is any correlation since my nephew took about 8 months before he slept more then 4 hours at a time - he weighed well past the 10 pounds and was eating solids and all that.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • DD started sleeping five hour stretches by around three weeks.  She had only just gotten back to her birthweight at that point, which was around 9 lbs.  I think it's had as much to do with how much food she can ingest.  She would start cluster feeding before bed, and then sleep for five hours.

My pedi claims once they hit around 12 pounds they start STTN or at least sleeping longer stretches.

At first I believed her, but now I don't....LOL!

DS#2 is almost 15 pounds and he still isn't STTN :(:( Boo....

DS#1 was STTN at 11 weeks and he was right around 12 pounds......

  • My DD weighs around 14lbs and has started sleeping 6 hour stretches.  She cluster feeds like crazy before she goes down around 9:30pm or so.
  • DS was 6 months old and at least 17 pounds, so in our case weight didn't make a difference - sorry!
    Unexplained. IVF#2 worked! Beta at 10dp6dt = 154, Beta at 13dp6dt = 603 Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • Ethan was about 10 lbs, but I dont honestly think weight has any relevance. We had a google group of the moms in our birthing class, and the babies were all over the place for STTN... some did it at 1 weeks, some at 1 months, the majority didn't until well after 6 months

I think it is a milestone like any other... they just do it when they are ready

( I am not talking 5 hour stretches, I am referring to 8 hours or more)

  • DD STTN (8 PM until 6 AM) at about 8 pounds, which was big for her, she started at 5.

  • By about 8 weeks she was sleeping at least 8 hours and weighed 8lbs 14oz at her 2mo check-up.    It seems that 8 was the lucky number for us.  ;)
