Late FFFC

Amy's(Peppernut's) response to my post got me thinking about Mikey's fine motor skills and sociability.

Everybody loves him. We always get compliments on how cute and smiley he is when we're out - and he is cute and smiley. He watches everyone and is brilliant at interacting with them. He's a total charmer...

Unless someone besides DH or I holds him. He's all smiles until someone makes a move towards him, then he's THAT baby, the one that wails and reaches for DH and I.

Maybe it's stranger/separation anxiety since he didn't used to be like that.

My FFFC is that I find it embarrassing when he carries on like that.Maybe Margaux could teach him a thing or two.

  • Ha!  I hear that all babies start having stranger freakouts eventually, so I think Margaux will probably end up like Mikey in a month or two!

  • Sienna has stranger anxiety so I can relate to that. I blame it on the fact that I have been hibernating all winter long. Basically from Nov til the beginning of this month she has not really been out aside from my mom's house. When I'd have a friend over, she starts wailing after looking at them for a minute. Some friends, she'll warm up to.

Yesterday we were at the park & a women had a cute little puppy which we were admiring from afar. She brings it closer for Sienna to see & Sienna looks at the woman & cries. Couldn't care less about the adorable puppy. I think she just needs to get used to seeing people. All weekend we have been going to the park & DH carrying her in the bjorn so she can see the world. Yeah lets hope they get over this quickly.

  • I think all babies go through this at some point.  This too shall pass.

  • It's very common for babies around 6-8 months to have periods of stranger anxiety?per books I've read and Baby Center bulletins.

Overall, Aaron's too much of a Yenta to have this?but there have been people who have spooked him.  The other day a vendor came by the office (you know I bring him w/me to work) and he came into MY office to take a look at the baby.  This man started snapping his fingers (very annoying) and then touched Aaron's foot.  Aaron then FREAKED out.

I have to admit, I find this man kind of creepy (and he's like in his early 80s) too, so I can't blame my baby.  lol

Mikey is a smart baby?he knows what he wants and he tells the world.

  • Its normal!  You know that separation anxiety thing.  G is like that when a stranger tries to hold her.  So we let them warm up to her and then let them hold her.
