Red Rasberry Leaf Tea

Is anyone drinking this? I hear mixed reviews.. I hear its safe to drink while pregnant and that its excellent because it helps reduce the risk of C-Sections.. I also heard it can cause contractions... Someone mentioned it was safe to start drinking after 20 weeks and it would work miracles later on..

Anyone?

Re: Red Rasberry Leaf Tea

  • I'm drinking it everyday and have been since 12 weeks. It's amazing. It helps tone and strengthen the uterus. The high mineral content helps production of breast milk, it speeds up second stage of labor, there are many more benefits too.

  • My Dr said to start drinking it at 37 weeks.  With DS 1 I drank lots of it at 37 weeks and still had a c/s.  It was tasty though.  I'd make iced tea with it.

How do you make it.. Do you buy it at a Whole Foods? Any brand in particular? lol I know i have a lot of questions, but I want to start taking it.

    thanks!!

  • Also, it's good for those whos blood type is RH-. Since the tea strengthens and tones the uterus there is less change of minor bleeding which means less chance of maternal-fetal blood mixing.

Yah, whole foods will definitely carry it. You can get it in pre-packaged tea bags. Or you can get it in powder form to encapsulate it, or you can buy it encapsulated. And then there's the actual leaves that you can strain, if you have a tea strainer.

I use the leaves and strain it myself, that way it's a little more concentrated and fresh. But I also have the pre-packaged tea bags. I live in Canada so I don't think we will have the same brands. And I drink about 2-3 cups a day.

Sorry I should have said I started off with one cup a day and built up to 2-3 cups. Some women are more sensitive to the tea and have to reduce the amount they drink. But I suggest starting at 1 and working your way up.

I take UDO's Oil right now and it has evening primrose oil in it. Along with bran oil, flax oil, sesame oil, oat germ. But I definitely will be upping my intake near the end.

  • It is safe to drink and will not cause contractions. It works by strengthening the uterine muscle so when it comes time to have your LO, contractions will be stronger and theoretically shorten labor. It is safe to drink throughout pregnancy, especially from 2nd trimester onwards Smile

I'm drinking it everyday and have been since 12 weeks. It's amazing. It helps tone and strengthen the uterus. The high mineral content helps production of breast milk, it speeds up second stage of labor, there are many more benefits too.

How do you make it.. Do you buy it at a Whole Foods? Any brand in particular? lol I know i have a lot of questions, but I want to start taking it.

    thanks!!

2-3 cups a day so early isn't bad?

Sorry I should have said I started off with one cup a day and built up to 2-3 cups. Some women are more sensitive to the tea and have to reduce the amount they drink. But I suggest starting at 1 and working your way up.

Okayy.. Thanks.. I am definitely going to go buy it tomorrow.. I have wanted to buy it for like 2 months now, but I decided to wait until my 20 week US. lol Do you plan on using the Evening Primose?? Heard thats really good too.. Well when you're like 35 weeks.

I take UDO's Oil right now and it has evening primrose oil in it. Along with bran oil, flax oil, sesame oil, oat germ. But I definitely will be upping my intake near the end.

Whats the UDO's for? I believe the Evening Primose is

    supposed to induce labor..

  • haha I think it's the bump.

Evening primrose oil has a ton of benefits it's really good for TTC too. I've been taking UDO's oil for years. It's essential fatty acids. So some benefits are... helps speed up healing, helps chemical imbalances, mood, depression, maintains healthy weight, controls appetite, brain development, mine has DHA in it too so good for brain again, skin disorders, it keeps the skin hydrated from the sources (which is good for stretch marks) there are so many benefits.

    Anyone?

Be VERY careful with this tea! It is recommended that you don't drink it until your past 32 weeks as it can stimulate contractions if you are prone to pre-term labor. While it's good for toning the uterus is also has a cleansing hormone rising effect. I studied herbs for many years and highly recommend not drinking or only minimal.

I repeat (because I care) that it should only be used pre-pregnancy or after 32 weeks.

You see, this is why I get scared. I hear mixed reviews. It took me so long to get to where I am and I don't want anything bad to happen. I'm just a nervous wreck bc I had a previous miscarriage, but I was only 5 weeks along.

  • My MW has had me drinking it from the beginning.  I'm a VBAC hopeful and the thought is that it will help tone my uterus and keep it strong for delivery.  Her rec's were 1 cup in 1st tri, 2 cups in 2nd tri, and 3 cups in 3rd tri.  I haven't had any issues with it.
