YES! OMG, I almost died the first time I saw one in Texas. The one I saw was like a big barn you drove right through, and you could buy anything you'd buy at a convenience store, plus liquor.
I've never seen one in Austin, but have definitely seen this in Houston.

I used to live in a state where you can by beer/wine/etc. at the Drive thru. Some states (not the one I'm from) you can buy hard liquor too. No such luck here. They are like a 7-11 for lazy people like me. You can get lotto tickets, milk, chips and beer. The essentials.
They have them in WV I know for sure. You can buy anything that they sell in the store. It is pretty nice if you have kids and need to pick up something quick like milk or something.

We have them here in Ohio. They're a godsend when you run out of milk and don't want to drag the kids in. We're from Michigan and these were completely foreign to us.
I am sad to admit that they do have these in my region, too, but not in my current city. I can only think of a couple when I was growing up. Not sure if they still exist.
They also have a place here that has a drive through for frozen margaritas etc. It comes wrapped in cellophane. It's called Eskimo Hut or something like that.
DD fell asleep in the car last week when we were home visiting family and my Dad was out of beer. It was so easy to pull in and get it. Honestly, it doesn't encourage someone to open in the car. It's not like they serve mixed drinks in a glass for goodness sakes. It's a great way to pick up ice (you don't have to lug it to the car, they load it into your trunk) and other essentials. I'm always dreaming of opening one with out alcohol here. I'm sure with twins it would be nice to leave them in the car to get milk some days. That's the benefit to the drive thru.

There's something like this near my mom's house in Philadelphia.

Okay, apparently some do encourage drinking and driving. Never saw that back home in Ohio
OMG ya that is the coolest. I've seen this in Maryland. In PA they have a drive through beverage store. You pull into this huge wharehouse, tell them what you want, they put it in your car & you drive off. Brilliant.
swedish--were you the one asking about a vacation in the outer banks? If so, you must stop here and experience the wonder that is the drive-thru beer store.

But...it does say on there not to drink and drive lol. I think people who drink and drive are going to do it with or without a drive thru, it's not hard to walk in a gas station after all.
The ones I've been through are just drive-thru convenience stores that also sell kegs. No liquor that I have seen, and the wine is along the lines of Boone's Farm.

Colorado has them (at least Denver does). I don't think a new liquor store can become a drive-thru, but a lot of them were grandfathered in, so they get to keep it going. It's pretty convenient if you have to pick something up and know exactly what you want (kid in your car or not).
wow, who knew? I'm one part appalled, one part jealous.
ditto.
My state still has antiquated laws. Closed on Sundays, election day. If a store sells liquor, they can't sell anything else - not even a corkscrew. That's what we don't have Whole Foods, Costco, or many other chains because they can't sell wine. I wish they'd get with the damn times!

whoa! that's crazy talk. i thought VA was bad. these people need to get with it! maybe apple will someday make "an app for that" and we can push a button and BAM! booze right in front of you.

I lived in Louisiana for 7 years--the drive through daquiri places always cracked me up. And frightened me at the same time.
I know, right. The way they get around "promoting drinking and driving" is that it's legal to drive around with them, but if you've put the straw in it, you're in trouble. ::eyeroll::
Not only do we have drive through liquor stores in Illinois, but we have drive through cigarette stores. I had never seen one of these until a couple of weeks ago. It's called Cigarettes Express. Klassy!

Seriously, life would be so much easier. Do you know how hard it is to lug two toddlers into one?
Totally kidding - would never take them in. But yea - way to promote drinking & driving.
Oh yes. It is MAGIC.

We had one by our house in MD, but never experienced it.

It really doesn't promoted drinking and driving.

ugh? that is not the appropriate response to drive through booze, my friend.
of course i'd just be happy if VA would stop being lame and let you sell beer on sunday! or maybe it's my county? either way it's LAME!

There is a beer distributor near my parents house that delivers.
Their delivery vehicle is a converted ambulance.
It is the most awesomest thing ever.
