Shower gift for "mom" from her son (who's 8). Any ideas??

My MIL wants to get my SIL a gift from her son who's 8 years old and she is trying to come up with something thoughtful or clever. Any ideas???

  • I have to say I am stumped.

  • I'm confused.  Is she having a shower as a second-time Mom??  Or does your MIL have an 8-year-old?
  • I am thinking you mean that SIL is having a baby and 8 year old son wants to get her a gift (that MIL is actually buying)?  If that's the case, what about something kind of simple like those "coupons" you can make...that her 8 year old might "help" change a diaper or help put away clothes...cute stuff that an eight year old can do to make him feel like a big brother and help out mom?

  • Or maybe having the big brother pick out some books that he can read to the baby.

  • if he's 8 why not just ask him what he'd like to get.  That seems old enough for him to pick out something, either from a registry or a book or matching outfits.  I think it would mean more to him if he had something to do w/ it

  • Agreed, he should definitely choose the gift.
