Dumb Q: Minimizer bra during pregnancy?

This is probably a realllly dumb question but I'll ask anyway :)  Can you/should you wear a minimizer bra during pregnancy??

I've always been very top heavy with a small frame (36D prepregnancy, weighing 110).  Now I'm wearing a 38DD+, and these boobs are killing me!  Not only do they HURT but the definitely come into a room before I do!

  • I'm also busting out of my 36 DD's so I understand what you're saying, but I don't even think a minimizer would be comfortable. I am wearing supportive, non-underwire bras I got at JC Pennies. They are Walcol brand or something like that and they're comfy.

  • OP - I don't have a response for you, just wanted to say I love your screen name...I miss gin and my cute heels for work!!!
  • I wore a minimizer during my second pregnancy (my first too??) just because they were SO big I really did just want to minimize them :)

The bras ended up being more supportive as well, which was a bonus. I don't think there would be any negative effects by wearing one.

  • Thanks everyone!!  This is my first pregnancy so I wasn't sure if my boobs were hurting just because, or if it might have something to do with the minimizer.  Probably a little of both I'm guessing.

  • OK, SO not a dumb question!  I was a 32DD pre-pregnancy and am smallish (~120lbs) so I get it.  I'm now (at 20 weeks) a 34F and purchased a minimizer as one of my pregnancy bras and LOVE IT.  A minimizer adjusts your breast tissue within the bra but doesn't harm your breasts in any way.  If anything, it gives you more support and at larger sizes, I have to say those unattractive wide (and padded, in some cases) straps feel really good.  I'm a believer - go for it!  I've also been sleeping in an Elle Macpherson nursing bra since my first trimester and that really helped with breast pain, too.  Plus it's sort of cute. :)  Good luck!!
  • I'm in minimizers now.  I LOVE MINE.  I'm reaching the point where the 38DD and DDD are uncomfortable (all of them fit differently).  They've made me look normal.  My only complaint is the underwire.  It's starting to get too uncomfortable.  Time to move up a cup!  LOL.
