Bulk clothing sale on CL

Has anyone sold their child's clothes in bulk on CL?  Did you try to sell it that way and it didn't work out?

I have almost 2 years of DD's stuff to get rid of, and I would love to just sell it all in one swoop.  I want to try a bulk CL sale first.  We'll do a yard sale and donate if I can't sell it all at once.

ETA: How much would you sell an entire NB-18 month wardrobe for?

  • I've never tried to sell it, but I can tell you that I probably would never buy it like that.

I think price all depends on how many pieces, the condition, and the brands.

  • I'm wondering the same thing. I wonder if ebay is better? Or stores like Once Upon a Child?

I don't want to deal with shipping costs on ebay.  And, I am lazy and don't want to box the stuff up, lol.

We have a ton of local consignment shops, but they all only accept one laundry basket of clothes per person, per season (like Kid-to-kid).   I'd be doing a lot of running around to different stores in order to get that done.

  • I think if you price it right you will get takers. Put in the ad the number of items and the brands, similar to what they do on ebay. Hey, CL is free so if it does not work you did not lose anything.
  • I think you'll get more hits if you do it by size groupings.  Most people aren't looking or interested in that many clothing sizes all at once.

  • I agree that you should break it up into groups according to size.  Every baby grows at a different rate.  DD was in newborn clothes for over 3 months and she is still in 12 or 18 months clothes and she is 19 months old.  Someone might buy the lot, but according to season or size, their baby may never fit into them.  I'd break them up according to size and sell them in the season that is current.  Good luck!

  • i would seperate it out into like 6 month increments like 0-6, 6-12, 12-18. and then u might have an easier time selling it. and if someone really wanted it all theyd respond to all the ads.

  • I put DDs old clothes on ebay in lots.  I got rid of her 3, 6, 12 & 18 month wardrobes that way.  I wasn't able to get rid of her 6-9 & 9 month wardrobes on ebay so I posted them on craigslist and the same person bought both lots.  I didn't have the energy to list one outfit at a time.  I priced them at .50-.75 per article of clothing.  It took 2 weeks to get rid of everything.
