Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

I was lurking on 0-3 and

I saw someone had a "STTN" badge in her siggy.

I about fell off my chair, laughing so hard.

  • My son was STTN by 3 months

  • dd STTN at 8 weeks.  all the way until she was 5ish months.  so...it's possible.

  • Yeah, it's possible. Maybe not for your kid(s), but it's not totally laughable either.

but then at 5 month-ish she stopped, right?

I'm betting this woman loses the badge somewhere along the road to 1 year.

  • DS was sleeping through the night at about 10 weeks. And did great until about 9/10 months.

And technically, sttn is what 5/6 hours?

ditto this.  but no way in hell i would have ever jinxed it by putting a stupid badge about it in my siggie!

  • One of my kids started STTN around 2 months. Why is it funny?

Yeah. DD was sleeping in 8-10 hours stretches at 6 weeks.

  • vvery possible

    and I'm jealous :-(

  • DS1 was sleeping 11 hours at night by 7 weeks.  And he never stopped - sure he has a bad night here or there (usually when sick) but he is an amazing sleeper.

DS2 on the other hand is a completely different story....

  • A started STTN at 8 weeks but I waited a long time to actually call it STTN because I didn't want to jinx it LOL

Point being, I knew better than to look a gift horse in the mouth at 8 weeks.

Like I said, one of my kids STTN around 2 months are never had waking issues. That kid is a great sleeper to this day. DC on the other didn't STTN until way later. It all evens out;)

I won't say it's funny or impossible but rude to have a "badge" bragging about it when other moms on the board are getting very little sleep, you know?

how on earth is it rude?  is it also rude to have a "i went natural" badge just b/c someone else didn't?  or a "i'm a proud bfer" just b/c someone else couldn't?  that makes no sense.

but i do agree with the pp about jinxing it!

  • both of my kids pretty much STTN by about 8 weeks.  DS had a couple hiccups, but they only lasted a week before he went right back to normal.

i still wouldn't jinx myself with that badge though.

  • ::raiseshandsheepishly&looksguilty::

If I felt like being that kind of person I could have put a STTN badge in my siggy back then. She started performing this miracle at 6 weeks. I don't know how and I swear we didn't drug her. I just don't see the point of badges.

ETA: and aside from a few colds and one ear infection she has done so since then.

around 5 months she hit that weird wakeful period for 2 weeks then STTN - has ever since.  so i guess i would have had to remove the badge for 2 weeks.

  • ah, sometimes I forget I'm the only one who has terrible sleepers.

ok, not the only one, but sometimes it feels like that. Beautiful boys, HORRIBLE sleepers.

Can I claim hysterical, sleep-deprived, laughter?

I just Judged you. In case you didn't know.

  • My DD has been STTN since she was about 8 weeks old and I can count on my hands how many times she hasn't STTN since then.  Usually only when she is sick.

  • It happens. DS has STTN since 8 weeks--although I'm sure I'll pay for it if we have a second DC.
  • my friends baby is 8 wks and he will sleep from 9pm-4am eat and then 430-8am. its not impossible

  • My DD STTN at 5 weeks, and still does to this day.  She's a freak of nature, and part of the reason I'm afraid to TTC again is that the chances of another like her are slim to none....  Even teething/sickness hasn't really upset her sleep.

Eh, I don't know. I seem to remember waking up to quite a few "STTN!!!!111!!!" announcements back on the 0-6 boards. Yes, in the beginning it made me feel stabby, but eh, whatever.

The badge thing is stupid, but I just kind of generally think badges are stupid.

Ha ha, this is how we feel too. I can count the times DD has not STTN since six weeks on one hand...

  • My first was such a great sleeper. My second is the worst.sleeper.ever. I'm jealous!
  • Totally possible.  DD STTN from 10 weeks - 5 months.  DS has yet to STTN.  Maybe I should add the STTN STFU badge to my siggy.
  • My DD started sleeping through the night at 7 weeks.  She slept through the night until November when the never ending ear infections began.  I don't see it as impossible.

  • I think the most bizarre thing is that someone cares enough about bragging about it to put a stinkin' badge in their siggy.

  • you better believe it will take EVERYTHING in me not to have a badge, bumber sticker, tshirt, business cards or anything saying that briggs sttn if he does. oh im jealous of her
  • I'm just not that lucky in life.

this...its possible. Jh was sttn at 2 months old and that was while i was EBF! He has a few off nights when he's sick but he still has the same exact routine that he's had since birth! ::knock on wood::
  • DD1 started STTN at 2 weeks old (5+ hours per night) and by 6 weeks was going at least 10 hours straight.  She's almost four--I am still waiting for a regression, apparently?  (I mean, yes, she's had some phases here and there due to growth spurts but nothing I'd call a regression)

DD2 was a completely different story.  She was a horrible sleeper and once we got her ear tubes she STTN--at around 12 months.

Every kid is different--doesn't mean her kid will regress, and doesn't mean your kid won't PROgress.
