I've read most of John Irving's books. A Widow for One Year is one of my faves.

Ann Patchett is also wonderful. I really loved Bel Canto, Run, and Patron Saint of Liars.

The Help is supposedly excellent. I've purchased it but not read it yet. I'm about to start The Art of Racing in the Rain for my bookclub.

I've recently read The Help and LOVED it. I have also read two of Emily Giffins books; Something Borrowed and Something Blue. Her books aren't very intellectual, but they're entertaining, and I've enjoyed them. The Help was just a great book. It made me angry for the things that went on during the 60's. Just a good thought-provoking book.

If you haven't read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, they are great books. Long, but really good. Outlander is the first of the series. Check it out.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society. It's a historical fiction novel written all as letters to and from the main character. MH got it for me for Christmas and I thought I'd hate it, but it is so good.
