Babies: 3 - 6 Months

weight loss question (XP Health & Exercise)

I have been exercising since 7 weeks PP, 6-7 days a week for 30min-1hr.

I EBF, I eat less than 2000 calories/day.

I'm almost 14 weeks PP now. I lost 8lbs in the first two-three weeks of exercise, but have not lost a single lb in the past four weeks or so. I am frustrated, exhausted, and really wanting to just eat like a damned normal person and stop limiting every friggin bite I take.

Before getting pregnant I could eat pretty much whatever I wanted (though I did limit my junk food), and as long as I exercised a few times a week I didn't gain weight.

Now I'm afraid I'll just start gaining weight if I don't keep up this momentum, but I can't lose weight at all.

What gives? What am I missing?

Re: weight loss question (XP Health & Exercise)

  • Have you increased your work out? Or changed up what you're doing? I've heard that when people do the same thing every day for a certain amount of time, and then completely change the kind of exercise they are doing, they start to lose weight again. I'm no expert, though. I'm trying to get these pounds off too!

Yeah I've had to adjust pretty much on a weekly basis, just depending on injuries/baby schedule etc...  about three weeks ago I increased from 30 minutes to about 50-60min most days.

  • I'm in the same boat. I feel like the first 30 of the 45lbs that I gained (yikes) came off in the first three weeks...but nothing since. Then again I've only recently started exercising. What do you do for exercise? DH is a workout nut and always advises me to not let myself plateau with my workouts. So if you've been doing the same thing for four weeks and not seeing any change, switch up what you're doing. Maybe try more cardio, less weights or vice versa. Or switch to the elliptical if you've only been doing the treadmill. Hopefully you'll see some results soon!!
  • I had that happen and I found I just had to cut more calories.  Once I did, I started losing again.
  • I know that if I don't eat past 7pm and cut alcohol I start to shed the weight easily. Also, daily brisk walks have helped me too.
