Anyone use South Shore Midwifery in Weymouth?

Hi, I am just switching over to South Shore Midwifery in Weymouth and wanted to see if anyone has any experience with them, I was referred by my NP at my OB's office, as they don't have any midwives actively delivering and I have decided to use a midwife for my deliver : )  Thanks!

  • I'm sorry I can't help w/info on SS Midwifery, but just wanted to offer another suggestion if you're looking. South Shore Women's Health is good; they offer midwives and doctors. I used them w/my first child, and am using them again w/my second. They have 4 offices, which is really convenient (Weymouth, Whitman, Duxbury, and Scituate) and the people who work there are really great.

  • I have 2 friends that use them and love it there.
  • Thank you Lindac : )  I was actually trying to decide between the 2, as I did like how SS Women's health had the variety, but my NP referred me to SS Midwifery, so I am going to see how it works with them for the time being, I appreciate the feedback : )

  • South Shore Womens health is HORRIBLE. My husband and I are pregnant with my first and have had to go in there several times for minor complications. When I call to ask them questions about serious concerns I was having such as not being able to breathe, and bleeding ALL weekend, they do not call back. They called to tell me that they have scheduled an appointment for me at the hospital and when I asked why the receptionist transferred me to a nurse. They put me on hold for 20 minutes before hanging up the phone! When I called back, and left 2 messages, they didnt return my phone call. They took my entire medical history and family history INFRONT of other patients. When my husband and I went for our first ultrasound, the nurse didnt say two words about the baby, what we were looking at, etc. What kind of office are they trying to run!? We are currently trying to find another doctor in the area. I know it sounds very negative, but I wanted to let people know about them. I know other couples who are also having a very difficult time with them. Good luck with the other place and with your pregnancy!
  • i delivered both babies with SS midwifery. i LOVED them. the midwifes and drs were fantastic.

i was high risk and they were so helpful. i called all the time and they were always happy to ease my mind. i often would call and say was not feeling well and wanted to come in to be looked at and they always accommodated.

the receptionist even gave me a HUGE box of 300 of those pre-measured formula things for your diaper bag.  i still use them. she called me after I had Chase. he was a big boy, 10lbs 13oz, she said she had big babies and knew i would be spending a fortune on formula. it was such a nice gesture.

i received great care there and would recommend then very highly.

  • Thank you both for the feedback on SS Womens Health and SS midwifery, if your looking for a good OB office, in the building behind SS Women's health there is Atrius Women's Health Center, Dr. Chen is wonderful...and the office is very accomodating, the NP Kristin was great to work with, and when I called the front desk with any questions they would forward my call to a nurse right away who would track down my answer immediately for me.  I am about 14 & a half weeks & haven't had any issues but my experience was great with them, the only reason I changed was because they don't have any midwives that are actively delivering at this time, and I chose to go with a midwife as their approach opposed to an OB's is more the birthing experience I am going for.  I also was referred to Dr. Chen by 2 women in the area, one who had 2 c-sections with her & the other who had natural childbirth and both were very happy.  I am sorry your having a bad experience with your office, I hope your able to find a Doctor your happy with.

Kiki thanks a ton, I've only been getting positive feedback on them thus far, so I feel good about my choice, and your feedback just made me more confident that I made the right decision : )  Congrats on your healthy baby boy : )  I have my 1st appt on 3/15 with Shelly...I am looking forward to it.

shelly is so nice.  i know the PP said the u/s lady did not talk much and that is true. they often deal with high risk PG that is pretty standard for the u/s in a high risk office. the tech is instructed NOT to give any opinions. but the tech is actually nice. i had MANY u/s and she was great at keeping me calm and always got me "cute" picts of the baby when she could.
