3rd Trimester

Omg... (Re:Tonight's Induction)

So I didnt want to tell anyone (friends and family) about the induction tonight because I have a really big family and I know they think that when I say I'm going up there at 8 to be induced that I'm going to have her at 9 or something. lol.. So I told everyone that I called that it would be in the morning, and if it was tonight it would be super late...that I wouldnt feel like seeing anyone until tomorrow anyways so just to not come (with the exception of my mom..).

So my neice texts me and says she will see me tonight (which means my sister, neice and nephew, and my sisters boyfriend) are all coming. They are in school which means it will be before nine.

My brother calls and says he will be there. I said NO just come in the morning. I wont be having her as soon as I get there...I'm not even in labor yet. He said I dont care, I'll sit in the waiting room. I'm going to be there.

*sigh* All of my friends keep texting saying they will be there. I'm like NO I DONT WANT ANYONE THERE! lol.

Why does no one listen to me?

  • Sorry, but just look at how excited they are to be there for you. They sound like they love ya lots :)

  • Haha I feel ya on this one! I told my MIL not to come until we called her. I was induced at 9am and so when does she show up? 2pm....ummm seriously?! I was in pain and just getting my epi at that time and just wanted to sleep and of course she kept asking DH to come in. I told her no. I was literally nauseous and shaking from the medicine. We told her not to come yet and she just did whatever she pleased. My friend did the same thing...she came at 2pm and it wasn't until around 7pm that I had rested enough and felt ok enough to have visitors. My friend finally ended up leaving (apparently she had to get to sleep for work or something) and I ended up having him 5 mins after she left. Had they both just listened to my wishes, then they wouldn't have been sitting in a waiting room all day long. It's really annoying especially when you feel like crap and all you want to do is sleep. Put your foot down if you have to! You will need time to just relax and not have to worry about those things! Good  luck to you!
  • Ugh. That sucks. I would tell everyone that they should plan on waiting at least until morning because you're not having visitors until then.
  • our hospital wont even let that many people in the waiting room b/c of h1n1.  They could be there for a very long time.

  • AWW..that does suck.  I thought having ds(#2) a state away would make things easier...lol.  MIL drove over night to try to be there and ended up getting lost in RICHMOND VA for 7 hours!!  She just kept calling and saying she was stopped at various businesses.."I'm at wal-marT"...yeah which one???!!  "I'm at a suntrust bank"...yeah..there's one on every corner...lol.  Put your foot down....or have a conversation w/ the nureses.  I had a friend once who told the nurse everyime she asked for a dr.pepper that it meant to clear everyone out of her room.  It worked!

  • I am sure they are just excited for you, but you need to get your rest! Tell them visiting hours end at 8pm and you could have your nurse help explain to them that they can't stay.

    Good luck!

  • The dr.pepper idea is a good one! And yeah, I talked my sister into coming in the morning when the kids go to school. My brother is still coming but I think once he gets there I will be able to talk him into going home. My friends I put my foot down about, and the only other ppl are mom and my SO, both of who I want around. I forgot about visiting hours ending at...well i think our hospital is nine...so anyways, I'm leaving now. I'll update in a day or two. EEPP! My palms are so sweaty. lol
  • Just tell the nurses and they will keep them out. I think they secretly love that part of the job. With DS#1 the nurse was like "just nod and I'll tell them they can't come in, I'll make something up if I need to".  I loved her!
  • I agree with PP, sounds like you have lots of family that care about you. I understand what you are going through though. I am being induced tomorrow and have to be to the hospital at 4 pm. Everyone, including my DH swears I will have the baby a couple hours after I am admitted. I did tell everyone that I have to be to the hospital at 9 pm, so that DH and I can have sometime before everyone arrives.

This is great!  I never thought of using a code.  My mother is already trying to make me feel guilty because I told her I don't want her in the room for the birth.  She drives me crazy on a normal day and I know she will cry or something if I lose patience and snap at her.  I'm going to steal this idea.  I didn't want my husband to have to be the bad guy.
