Babies: 3 - 6 Months

How did you tell DH/SO you were pregnant?

I was too excited the first time I yelled it from the bathroom! lol!

When I got my BFP after I miscarried the first, DH was on a 24hr shift. He came home and went right to bed. When he woke up I had KFC waiting for him with a huge smile on my face and he just knew what I was going to say (we'd gone to KFC after we found out the first time).

Re: How did you tell DH/SO you were pregnant?

  • I left the stick n the bathroom and waited for him to find it. Lame, but it was fun waiting for him to discover it!

  • I put DD1 in a "I'm the Big Sister" shirt and waited for him to notice when he came home from work :)

W/ DD1, he knew I was testing so I ran up (he was still in bed) and asked him if he was ready to be a daddy!

  • He watched me take it... gross, I know
  • We did IVF, so he found out with me, when they called with the beta results.

  • Now I wish I had done something more special.. he was the one to bring me the pee stick on his way home from work because he had a good feeling that we were fruitful in our attempts and he just couldnt wait, romantic I know. He went out the next day and bought me a bunch of adorable baby related things to celebrate.

  • He was with me when I tested with our first and with our second, I couldnt hold it in so I called him at work....nothing creative.

  • He bought the tests for me.  I peed and just stared at what should have been a plus sign (it was all distorted).  I yelled for him to come in and try to figure it out.  He immediated started dancing and singing, "I'm a daddy.  I'm a daddy."  He was more excited than me.
  • I screamed, "Oh my God, J get in here," from the bathroom.  Then I shoved the pregnancy test in his face.  He sat on the edge of the bathtub with a completely stunned look on his face for about ten minutes.  Babies were the last thing on our mind at that time.  It took about a day for him to come around and really get excited about it.

  • I got my BFP on Dec. 27th, so I wrapped the two sticks (yes, I took two tests!) and put them under the tree and told DH that there was one more gift to open and it would be the most expensive gift that I would ever give him.  Was the BEST Christmas, EVER!!!

  • just said- "hey- i got a positive but i'm bleeding so don't get your hopes up"

i was pretty bitter by that point.

  • I called him at work.  I was at work, on the phone with my BF and told her I was late.  She convinced me to take the test.  Left work, ran to the drugstore, went home and tested, called DH, went back to work.  I wish I had a better story but there was no way I could have kept the secret until he got home.

  • We were TTC and I was pretty shocked when I got a BFP especially since we had been trying for awhile and received many BFN. I was still in shock and too excited to wait for him to come home, so I called him right before he was to start coaching his university's water polo game.

When he got home I showed him all five of the sticks I tested on that were BFP. Embarrassed

  •   I told him I was buying a test.  As soon as I got home, I took it.  I set the timer on the stove.  As soon as the timer went off, I checked it.  He was right next to me, and I said "I'm pretty sure I'm pregnant.''  It was a faint line (I tested early).  He didn't think it was positive, and I had to explain that there aren't false positives with these things.  I tested a few more times later in the week.  He finally believed it about a week later.
  • I had taken a Dollar Tree test that morning and couldn't figure out if it was positive or not.  So I took a picture of it to post on the bump (lol).  I showed a couple girls at work and asked "one line or two?" and most agreed that it was 2.  So I called him up and said "I took a pg test and I think it might be positive but I'm not sure."  He said "Ok, well I think you should take another one."  I took a First Response at lunch and it was definitely positive.  When I called to tell him that he said "I still think you should take another one."

I think we were both in disbelief because it was only our second cycle of not preventing.  I was thinking it would take much longer than that.

  • Well, it was my 4th pregnancy, none had yet to stick, and we had JUST had a m/c (on Christmas Eve nonetheless.)  Our RE said hope was lost that cycle so go home and try to heal and then ... voila!

I kept POAS because he did not believe me.  He didn't believe the whole "A line is a line" thing.  Finally I got betas done and I cried, he cried, we both sobbed because we were so scared and shocked.

  • It was New Year's morning and I asked DH if he wanted to know a secret.  He asked me if we should really be starting out the new year with a secret and I said, "Yes, I'm pregnant."  His response to that was, "But you weren't supposed to test for another 3 days!"

  • I brought the test home from work and took it - I didn't wait for the result, I let DH see it first and he told me :D)  It was cute - and I thought since we made the baby together, we should find out together!
  • Lame-O, I know.

He was in the shower.  I said, "Well, I must be REALLY pregnant." He laughed and said "What do you mean?" "The box says to wait two minutes before reading the test.  The second line apeared within two seconds." "Are you sure?" I shoved the test into the shower so he could see it. "Does this look like two lines to you?" "Yeah." "Then yeah, I'm sure." "Can you get that thing away from me? You peed on it."

  • I threw all of his shirts out of his dresser drawer into a pile on the floor. (We have a cat who does this on her own and it's mildy entertaining, but kind of annoying). I put a bunch of baby stuff into the drawer with a sign that said "Move over daddy, I'm moving in!" Then I waited until it was bedtime and for him to put his stuff away that the "cat" threw out. It took him a minute to get it...and his response was WTF?! lol

  • DH was at work and I couldn't wait to tell him, so I emailed him a pic of the $ Store test... he didn't know what it was.  So I took a digital then emailed that to him.. he was so excited!

  • After a previous negative test, DH was SURE I was pregnant so he went and bought another one. He waited in the living room - I kept blinking to make sure I wasn't imagining it was positive then I ran out with my hand shaking to show him. We ran and danced around and he came running through our bathroom and knocked over the cup of pee I had left on the floor in my excitement haha. Ewww.

  • Is it completley and totally lame that I have tears in my eyes from reading these?

My DH was on second shift when I got pregnant and I was due to test the next morning, but when he woke me up when he got home at midnight I took a test and it was faintly positive.  It was a Dollar Store test, so we got dressed and went to WalMart to get a digital at one thirty in the morning.

  • We both knew before the test confirmed. I was totally sick starting four days after conception and my boobs hurt so bad I wouldn't let him touch them. Driving over big bumps in the road brought me to tears. By the time I tested, we both knew even though we took turns being in denial. When I tested I cried with sadness and he said well you knew that already why are you so upset. We were not very thrilled with the idea at first. Water under the bridge now and we are planning #2!

  • It was pretty obvious that I was pregnant because I was so sick. He stood outside the bathroom door while I peed on a stick so when I opened the door, he came in and looked at the test.
  • Text message after I POAS.

His response was "Told ya so!"

I didn't truely believe it until after the Drs app a week later.

  • We were trying for so long, and he kind of expected it, because I had all the symptoms. I called him (where it was about 2am where he was) & yelled "I'm pregnant!!" into his ear, poor thing lol.

  • I had to wait for DH (FI at the time) to get on MSN while I was at work... he was at least 3 hours later than normal, which was really p!ssing me off...  then when he finally came on, I oh so casually asked "so... what names were you thinking of?" it only took him a couple minutes to figure out what I was talking about... I told one of my coworkers later that day, and she was more excited than he was Stick out tongue
  • Well DH was actually the one who noticed that AF was late. When he went to work I went out and bought a test. They both said +. I text messaged him that they said + but I still did not believe it (I know... I know). He came home from work and we bought 4 more tests. All positive. WOW big surprise:)  I almost still did not believe it after 6 + tests until I went to the doctor.
